Browns £5 billion a year stealth tax = great disaster of British financial history

limited insight applied to a lack of knowledge is really really scarey. you can't judge an economic policy on a single factor. Had we all been here 10 years ago the same posts would have applied to the tory treatment of students. Labour complained about the abolishment of grants, the introduction of loans, introduction of limited fees. 1997, labour gets in and do they undo the tory damage?? I think not - they see that the tories seem to have got away with it, so they continue the trend. IMHO all current politicians are in it for personal gain - there are no statesmen. I think the Lib dems should have a bite of the chery to see if they are equally as bad as the other two. Unfortunately in Northern Ireland I can't vote for any of these parties as the local bigots need to get the votes from somewhere

Skyline,
You must have read my early post on this thread with regard to Animal Farm!
The point I want to make is, even if you say you dont expect the Tories to do any better, and you have not seen their projected policies yet anyway, as UB mentioned, we know that this bunch are liars, run things for themselves instead of for the electorate, are grossly incompetent anyway, and are secretively destroying the economy with their useless policies and have hit pensions between the eyes for everyone except themselves and their friends. They are running the country into debt and will have to raise extra taxes to pay for their inabilities or lack of will to do anything worthwhile for the indigenous people of Britain.
The Tories have learned that if they produce their policies too early, then NL will pinch them as they have done before.
In that case, why vote a load of phonies like them back into power instead of giving the other lot a chance, we can only hope that the Tories are honest and also will preserve our country for us and not throw it to the wolves of the Eu. At the moment you cannot say that the Tories will be no better. You have no evidence to say that. If NL is voted back in their arrogance will increase out of sight and they will do whatever they want with no regard to what we want, and our way of life will go completely down the tubes.
The whole idea behind democracy and voting is that we have the power to chuck a bad government out of power and that is what they should realise if they want to keep the job of running the country.
If you say that there is no point in even voting to save yourself the minor inconvenience of going to the polling station, then your apathy will produce the sort of future life you deserve. Believe me you would really have something to worry about then.

I am not saying the tories are any better than labour, we don't need labour out, we need a new government in.
God help us if blair gets back in, I can tell you now we are all doomed, I run a small business and I will be better off just to close the door and give up.

Arrogance was the error the Torries made after Maggie, the point of History is to not make the same mistakes again(watch out Labour). I do not know who is the better of two evils but I am fairly happy at the moment, I have a Scooby 05 on my drive, and money in my pocket. I do however remember 15% motgage rates and 3 million unemployed and the highest fuel and car taxes in europe!! Until I can see policy how can I form any opion but from histrorical memories.

Are you really happy to be taxed to death just to pay for scroungers and layabouts ?

Think about it alot, would like to know that another party has policy's that I can read and understand. As for scroungers and layabouts, Ihave to deal with them on a daily basis and they deserve nothing from the state. But as I said at the moment less than 1,000,000 classed as unemployed when the torries were in there was levels around the 3,000,000 mark, to me thats 2,000,000 less claiming on the state for the money I get taxed. I want to know that when I vote the party I vote for will reflect the society I want to live in. That means they need to tell me what their Policy's are!!

Can anyone let me know what actual Policy's the conservatives are fighting the election on? I like the idea of more money in my pocket but where will they cut?

A policy needs to be a clearly drawn up document detailing targets and how they are goiing to achieve those targets. It's very easy to say 'we are going to cut tax' , but what tax are they going to cut, are others going to up, if not where will the money come from, if it's from cutting wasted expenditure then where is this waste and how will it be cut?..... A policy in my opinion should detail what a party is going to do rather than how bad the situation is due to the previous government.
All parties spend far too much time telling us how bad the other party is rather than what they are going to do about it.
tiggers.
