Hey I am not that dodgy looking!! Well I spose I was at the time, long hair and goatee. Bit more clean-cut now and no probs.
Not that the police make snap judgements based on your apperance or anything!!

£30 and producer for being in a bus lane on a Saturday afternnon.
Pulled left into a Mon-Friday bus lane to avoid a car turning right, then realised I was in a turn-left lane at the lights. Accelerated across the lights to get back into the right lane ... and found myself in a 24 hour bus lane going too fast looking at a plod car just waiting for me.
Decent coppers, but the fact is the road layout, markings, and signs at that spot are crap and they were waiting to take advantage of anyone in the wrong lane at the lights. Like shooting fish in a barrel.
I do resent that. It was a real simple mistake, and there isn't a driver alive who hasn't found themselves in a lane that is, for no good or obvious reason, marked left-turn only. The intersection is at the crest of a hill and you can't see the 24 hour bus lane markings (or plod) until it is too late.

[QUOTE=Psymon]I did
Whilst on unlit M6 southbound recently in p-poor driving conditions had police Volvo estate overtake me and reduce speed to 68 MPH - nothing unusual so far. I was however slightly surprised when I read an illuminated message on his rear window which said "Turn of your fog lights" - whilst very keen to have the 100-yards visibility and these are 'driving' lights conversation, thought better of it, turned them off and followed him at a very economical 69MPH for the next 5 miles before he left me to it!
Have to say that if in possession of such a device my most commonly displayed message would likely be 'F1-brakes fitted?'
