Secondly what mileage is on them, and what state are they in too?
My own car is an MY02 STI (Prodrive style), and I know that I'm getting approx 17K for it from my dealer. Its got the PPP fitted by the way, but thats all.
13K - I'd fecking set fire to it first.

So do official Prodrive mods make no difference to the price?
So for instance will a STI02 fitted with PPP, Prodrive springs, PFF7s not fetch more than a totally standard one? Assuming there are any still in standard spec of course.

The Impreza loses value just as fast as lots of other cars .....
Imagine, for one moment, the loss if you owned a Forester or Legacy from new?? I like these cars and would love a Legacy ..... but the hit must be HUGE!!
The Impreza is still a desirable car .........
The Legacy and Forester, great cars though they are, are simply not wanted new or used and hence the loss is simply financial suicide (unless you keep it till the day it's scrapped)

Who buys a modded car? very few average punters would want a modded thrashed imported car ............. unless its cheap.
Dealers deal with the General Public who frown on imports, mods and boy-racer cars
Put simply, if someone has paid good money to increase the performance, then that performance will have been used regularly - ie. the car thrashed to within an inch of its mechanical life ..........................

FFS what you get from a dealer is not what the cars worth!
I could mark up a car for 5k more than it was worth, and offer you 5k more that another dealer.....thats a good deal right!

Tho cause I do not use it as a every day car all dealers are looking at the book price & its making me cry with some of the px's prices .
As I work away alot, the mileage on mine is Ridiculous low... & its in show room condition etc..... So I am in 2 minds now about selling it.

Put it simply the car is only worth what someone will pay for it right?
Trade in against a newer Subaru is obviously going to get a better price.
UK STIs will get some links. Been offered one myself for £12500 with 50k on it needs a service though and has full Scoobysport system on it. No PPP though. If interested anyone!

Although you are speaking the truth I think some people (Current STi owners primarily) don't want to believe what you are saying.
It's all very well people on here saying what they believe they are worth but that means nothing until you are actually trying to sell the car. Then you begin to realise just how big a hit you will have to take to get rid.
Also low mileage and immaculate condition adds very little to the price when it comes to trade in time.
I went through this nearly 3 years ago when trying to get rid of my immaculate MY00 classic. People on here told me what they thought it was worth but I had a bit of a wake up call when I tried to sell it. I phoned virtually every dealer in the South East to give me a price and not a single one of them even bothered to phone me back with an offer.
I then decided to trade it in against a new MINI cooper and again the dealer wasn't too interested in the Impreza. Finally came back with a quote of £12,500 (Cost £21,309 new) on a 22 month old car.
Eventually managed to sell the car to a Subaru dealer 70 miles from my home for £12,650.
I can only imagine that things are a lot worse now than when I sold?
Personally I think you are mad if you buy a new STi and don't expect to lose shedloads of money. Bargain if you want a 2 year old one though!

Only doing 17K in nearly 2 years.
Spending 4 hours on a weekend washing and waxing it with Wax Wizard products.
Never driving it if I had to park it in a car park.
Feeling gutted every time I noticed another scratch.
Filling up with optimax and resetting the ECU, convinced it made a difference.
Putting a brand new set of Goodyear F1's on it when the original tyres had loads of tread left and then selling it 2 months later.
To anyone else who thinks like this I would say enjoy the car as you won't get more money for it if you look after it.

Put it another way. The 'bugeye' Impreza was around for 2 years. It didn't sell due to the mass market thought the bugeye headlights was ugly (Not my words). Subaru dealers were struggling to shift stock as well as the classic and made their thoughts known to Subaru. Hence when the 03 came out with a newer front end it was much better recieved as it looks so much better IMO. I wasn't a fan of the bugeye, though I own a blobeye.
It is VERY unusual for a car manufacturer to facelift a car within 2 years of it's life. Especially so drastically.
Jon.
