think the best i've had is 230 from a full tank-at the "BBO"
since i fitted the full de-cat and other bits i only got 170-180miles from my last full tank.love to hear that turbo spooling up.i don't care anyway i didn't buy the scoob for fuel ecomomy but don't tell the missus.

I run a STi5, on Optimax, t's about 34Kmiles old from new, only mod K&N filter, and get about 24mpg on a mix of local/dual carriageway.
However (I had checked this in the early days) I use to easily get around 26mpg on a similar run - and around 28mpg on a long Mway run. I can see some of you are happy with whatever you get, but a few show figures close to mine. I think it would be useful if anyone knows what factors/faults could influence such a change. I had the O2 sensor replaced about 11 months ago (the Check Engine light was coming on). The trouble is, as I understand it, that such sensors don't show any "faults" until they pack up -apparently the same goes for the MAF? I have tried to allow for cold weather, but still a bit suspicious that something isn't right.

MY03 STi (16k on the clock now)
Yesterdays run to Stoke & back: 268 miles using 41 litres of Optimax (90% motorway), cruising at (according to RoadAngel) 68-72mph ... which is harder than it sounds
MPG: 29.72

Consider yourself lucky getting that type of mileage.

Lol, I've just recorded 16.97 for the last tank used in the STi5, I have been mapping it two nights this week though !!
Cold weather makes a big difference, off boost the condition of the lambda sensor makes the difference

Just kidding.
I know what you mean about having to control yourself but it's just soooooo difficult. After all, planting the right foot and getting that joyfull kick in the *** as the turbo spools is the reason why we buy these cars isn't it ????
Well .... personally it is !

...of course the drive itself was dull and boring (avg 66mph) but that's the old fun vs. finances chestnut
[Edited to add: this is with a MY03 STi]

My general average is 25-28 MPG on a 2001 WRX Bugeye, but I did get 30 MPG average once on a tankful with a mixture of long runs, lanes, hills and towns. If I did a long constant run say down to Penzance on one tank and within speed limits I should achieve well over 30MPG. Trouble is, even though I drive quite conservatively by planning ahead etc. which tends to offset the overtaking bits etc., I not sure I could control myself completely for an entire journey.

WRX05, Optimax or BP stuff:
Date Miles Fuel litre mpg
30/01/2005 171 43.47 17.9
01/02/2005 180 30.31 27.0
02/02/2005 242 39.86 27.6
04/02/2005 256 46.54 25.0
11/02/2005 223 47.87 21.2
13/02/2005 139 30.62 20.6
14/02/2005 273 47.71 26.0
16/02/2005 301 46.15 29.6
That's an average of 24.4, stat-fans. All decent figures were mainly motorway journeys with lots of traffic etc.
Last fill I really thought I'd gone over the magic 30mpg, but misssed by a fraction.
Interesting to note that the worst figures were the first tank of fuel I ever put in it (starting mileage for the car was 160...) - that's using my 'special' running-in techniques...

my93wrx .... 3" full decat, and 300bhp remap (claimed by casmotorsport who did it) .....oh, and a vta dumpvalve ...lol
best ever 385km on full tank (40ltr tank @around £35fillup), using optimax, and not hammering it..... that was last summer
normally get about 320km's on a full tank, 280 if i give it some.
average taking it easy about 24-25mpg ....
if im on works business, claiming ex's then im interested in mpg so i can get the best deal, but, if im out there 'playing' so to speak, i dont give a fcukwhat the mpg is.....'im playing and thats what i got the car for'.
mpg seems to be worse in this cold weather.

I 've had my Fairly std UK 96, I do 2000 miles a month 60% motorway miles creeping along M18 /M1.
Worst 24.1
Averaged 27.4 over last 12,000 miles!!
best 32.1 drove sheffield to maidstone at 70-75 (bloody hard work) got 32.1
Next week , car gets decatted, ecu mod boost increase - i don't think i will see 30+ again

Further to earlier post, just did a long run in France (approx 2000miles return) MWay cruise, very cold weather, and herewith the stats. Though forgotten the MPH/RPM figure (it's an STi 5) - 21mph/2000rpm, anyone know?
Indicated Speed/RPM:
85-90mph (4200rpm approx): 26.35 to 26.99mpg
90-95mph (4500): 25.35 to 25.85
95-100mph (4800): 23.15 to 23.77
...And the most dangerous/never to be repeated/nearly fell asleep!
70-75mph (3300-3400): 32.996!!
Prior to this trip I ran mainly local/short trips. The mainly 90-95mph is better then what I got at local runs. This trip suggests a long run helps "clean up" and the ECU does indeed "Learn".
The car is fitted with an ECOTEK gismo, original MAF, and 2yr old Lambda.
Right, enough of this Anoraky stuff and back to normal driving!
