Mine has used several guises, the latest being "TORQUEamada". His last failed attempt to "out-handbag" me got the thread vaped a couple of weeks back, ruining yet another good cat thread!

Whoa, easy tiger!

I'm an immigrant, and I take offence to your comment about 'scummy immigrants'. I have never received any benefit hand-outs. I have never gone to your schools. I have been to my NHS doctor once in four years. In fact, I don't think I have ever used any of the services that are on offer by the government or local councils more than twice (I've been to the Watford library two times)

During my stay here, I have contributed several 10's of thousands of pounds in income tax, and even more if you add VAT, petrol tax etc etc.

I have travelled quite a bit, and to be honest, apart from the weather, this country is (still) better than any other place I have been to.

I am also married to a girl who is an immigrant from a different part of the world (refugee), and her family work very hard doing the ****ty jobs English snobs (such as yourself, looking at all the posts you have posted lately) are too proud to do.

Most of the yobs I see hanging around doing no good in Watford and London are *white English*. I think that generally, if you have enough "go" to actually get off your **** and move to a different country, you will also do well in the new country, because you will be the hard working type.

If you think it's so crap in England, please move to France (or whatever country the preferred choice of the month is), but please stop posting uninformed crap about immigrants, most of whom are hard working, decent people.

Athough I'm not happy with the current situation I have to agree with Pete on this. Even the current Tory lot are a complete joke.
Vote for Thatcher loving Howard, you have to be kidding. IDS was a better bet.
I too lived through the previous time when Howard had some power and I too can remember all the repo's and interest rates at 15%, not being able to afford anything because your trying to pay the mortgage during one of the bust periods.
I'll stay as I am thanks, my memory hasn't been sufficiently wiped to let that clown Howard back into power.
Change the Tory leader and cabinet for something credible and I'll think again but would never think of voting for the current rubbish.

Cheers
Lee

Paranoid/inferiority complex/blind assumption.....??

I said "scummy immigrant".

I did not say "immigrant".

I also don't like the governments stance on immigration, I did not say this is the fault of the immigrant. Of course they're gonna risk life and limb clambering under trains to get through the tunnel.

A huge post, not entirely necessary really....

Just my thoughts on a couple of mails I have seen

There is nothing wrong with migration (you are proof of that) and no one wants to stop it. The trouble with this country is that we has a massive problem with econnomic migrants being classed under the same name as refugees and asylumn seekers. Utter rubbish!

15 years ago you would have a handful of asylumn seekers (literally) now we have a situation that economic migrates (in the 100,000's) that come to this country to use the NHS and other services are somehow branded under the same flag as genuine asylumn seekers.

There are three types of migrants in my opinion. Economic migrants - Assylumn Seekers (1st safe country should accept them) - & people like yourself who are an asset to this country.

You shouldn't take offence by a 'scummy migrant' comment as it obviously isn't aimed at you, as I wouldn't be offeneded if someone was to refered to a 'white english yob'.

I personnally can't see why the Chav element of our society don't get off their 32" widescreen fat ***** and do the minimum wage jobs that Gordon Brown refers to needing imigrants to do.

I knew you weren't referring to me, I was just speaking up for the masses of immigrants that are not scummy

Like it or not, most people on the street will see any immigrant as scummy, when it's not the case at all, and I feel that comments like the ones you made (yes, I know you said scummy) will just add to that sentiment.

When I say scummy I refer to the ones that are scummy.

Just like Chavs etc etc.

The government's soft touch on immigration has caused hatred amongst British people - hence the hatred. It's not the fault of the immigrant, and I do not condone th hatred from the British - however thi is the harsh reality and a factor in why I do not like this country.

Everyone is just angry.

Whereas I just moan.

Anyway, getting back to the thread subject I'd just like to point out to Pete Lewis that we probably wouldnt be in the situation we are in now ie falling house prices if the Labour had been in power in the 80s instead of the Tories.

This is because if this was the case then we'd all be living on big estates in council houses. Now wouldnt that be nice. But no, the Tories allowed people to buy their council houses and take a bit of pride in what they had achieved.

A better way of housing people dont you think Mr Lewis.

As AP constantly shows, it's very easy to say this is **** or that is cr&p, thats fine. However, it is pointless and repetitive after the 100th time. Maybe he could be more useful by suggesting reasons for the causes of his aggreivances (sp?) and (god forbid) some opinions on how to improve his situation instead of constant horsie poo.

There's no denying that the tories had good idea's and that homeownership really took off under them. Unfortunately there are no housing policy's coming out of the tory camp. We need to see policy before we can debate on who will serve us better. The thing that worries me is to vote in a party that has not made it's mind up what it stands for. I remember all to well 15% mortgage rates. I will have to sell House car and possibly two children if the rates go back up to that level.

It doesn't matter how much you save for your first deposit - unless its all in ISAs (and you will only be able to put £1k max as from FY06) you'll get taxed on the interest that you've earnt too .
I got lucky in buying a place back in 97 on my own. Ok prices were going up but they weren't beserk like they are now. For the price that we sold the flat for, I could have just managed on my own but only because my salary went up rather a lot.

No, the Tories sold off the council housing and frittered away the proceeds leaving us a nation with less housing for those that genuinely need it (but struggle to afford it) and nothing to show for it.

Take the rose tinted spectacles off Chip, they were pigs at the trough same as the current lot.

Who was the dame that sold off all the house in London? She was fined 20million. Why did she do it? Was it to keep scum out of her patch.

Dame Shirley Porter - on top of the actual scandal she missed the deadline to pay compensation of £27m, but ended up striking a deal for £12m - justice indeed - I think not.

It was known as the 'homes for votes' scandal.

Homes for votes, now there is a policy I understand. Who ever gives me a house will get my vote, heck I'll even throw in the wifes vote(now that women get to vote).

Oh yeah I remember now. They frittered it away on things like new motorways (M25 for one) and literally 100s of new by-passes. Billions was spent on regeneration in the 80s. Where did this money come from? Trees? No I dont think so.

I know many who bought their council houses who have absolutely no regrets.
How does selling coucil houses leave us with less houses anyway.

I know the Tories were far from perfect but at least you could see where some of your money was going.

No, I don't!!

My father worked hard to buy a property on a private estate, he chose not to live with the council houses ...... decided to make a go of it himself!

THEN, out of the blue, those council house tennants who has pi55ed their money up the wall were offered half price houses!!! They should have been made to GET OUT and buy their OWN house!

Fair?? I hardly think so!! ......

Have to agree with Pete here. Council houses are still being sold off at silly money. Then many buyers just rent them back to the council and make a tidy sum before the inks even dry on the contract.

So whats the deal with right to buy? how does that work?

I cant understand how people can live in a brand new 350K apartment in london for £40 a week and then have the right to buy that apartment for a fraction of its price only to sell it for a tidy tax free profit.

That's Labour for you. At least the Tories had guidelines to adhere to buying allowing tenants to buy their council houses.
