Funkii - I think Blair and Labour are the best choice we have and therefore has my FULL support.

What I find truly odd is the lack of support for Labour on SN - now, either its a young BBS and you cannot remember the horrors of the Tories in power OR its an upper class BBS and are Tories by birthright??

Can't work it out, because, whatever the Tories on here think or do, Blair WILL be in for the next term ........... its about as sure as a fly landing on some cowdung in August!!

That's strange - two people reading things that supposedly "aren't there", sorry mate they are! however cleverly (or not in this case) you try to disguise them.

I have stated NOTHING but FACTS - how you want to read them is up to you ... clearly its easy for others to 'all-of-a-sudden' see things for their own agenda

DeepSingh says that my wife has left me - up until 2 minutes ago she hadn't therefore he is commiting the greater sin of blatant slander ... go figure

You are just following because it suits your purpose (whatever that may be) and I get a lot of followers waiting to 'have-a-pop' .... you've only been here 2 months - you'll learn!

I've seen quite a lot in my two (full calendar) months and whilst I don't agree with your politics, in general your posts are cleverly written. However on this thread you have descended to a a level which I would not have expected based on what I had seen so far. Diesel's comment about the thread was not blatently aimed at you, yet you saw fit to attempt to defend yourself.

I note that you accuse Deep Singh of a "greater sin" , greater than what I wonder? As for me posting for my "own agenda" and to "suit my purposes" well I do have an agenda - it's called common decency - nothing more.

PSL.

The one thing noticable about your posts is that just like your hero and his bunch of cronies is that you never actually produce an argument or any supporting facts.

You spend your time making grand statements of what you claim are facts but which are really rubbish. It is what you would like us to believe even though you must know as well as the rest of us that it has no real substance. Exactly what your hero and his minions have been doing for years now.

Time you changed the record and came out with the truth.

I'm glad to hear it,mine was'nt arranged either. I had heard of a Mr Lewis whose wife left him because she caught him in her undies pleasuring himself with a cucumber. I just presumed you must have been the same Mr Lewis. I'm sure you understand its an easy mistake to make,as you made a very similar one earlier.
Its a reflection of your lack of wit that you c'ant think of anything better to come back at me with than age old stereotypes. You've missed the Bernard Manning school of humour by about 30 years. Please try harder next time. Graded E+ again!

That doesn't answer the question but never mind.

I'm not rich and I'm old enough to remember the tories and the last years of the previous Labour govt and I still don't recall another govt being so inept and up themselves......

I am astounded that you have managed to roll up 9000 replies or whatever its showing at the moment. How do you find time to have a wash?

Have read the first few posts but not all so excuse me if this is not really linked - just my viewpoint on politics...

We apparently live in a 'democracy' but in reality it is a 'controlled dictatorship'... for years we have had no 'marketable' opposition to labour and because of Tony's charismatic grin and shrug of the shoulders...the 'mob' swung his way... and by dictatorship I do not mean a sadam style fear factor one... Take Julius Ceasar as an example - we are the 'mob' - easily swayed by good speakers who play on the issues of the moment to put negative spin on their opponent to come out in favour... now don't get me wrong - we need this 'democracy' so that my impreza is safe at night and so we have an effective method of keeping people/us/the mob under control... so we don't get mugged and pillaged! If this control is lost then the mob gains control - take the case of the revolt against the radio license where the authorities backed down due to the number of people refusing to pay... the fuel protests of 99 etc...

What am I getting at?? - Well I am a 24 uni grad, year into a good engineering grad position on a 'good' salary - and what do I get for the fruits of my labour from the government I pay so much tax to? Well in short, not a lot. I'm not disabled, foreign, gay, working class, unemployed, ill, incompetant, living "out-of-the-system", seeking asylum. - All these people get handouts from 'the system' in some form or the benefit in kind. Equally I don't drain on the system - I don't come from a disfunctional family and have community liaison reps, social workers, benefit assessors, police etc knocking on my door every few days...

The only way I benefit is if I ever needed to go to hospital,

Can someone please tell me why I should vote and what I stand to gain from all of this? I believe its such a load of crap...

Basically we are made to think we are allowed to have a say - in reality we are allowed to listen.

All I get the ability to ring police, fire, ambulance and access to health service (although I haven't used these in 5 years)

Also, while I'm on.... tax.... Ok so I've chosen the PAYE route, but there are so many people not paying the full ammount eg taxi drivers, take aways, hairdressers - i.e. cash businesses - why doesn't the government employ a 'wooly titled council worker' to chase people in these professions to ensure that its a fair system....

That or move to a single tax value for all like 20% similar to some eastern European countries - there would become a point were it wouldn't be worth people doging the system and the actual value of tax revenue would increase...

And also.... did you know.... the employment rate has recently been reported to have lowered - however the number on incapacity benefit has risen from approx 1.8 mill to 3 mill last year - why?? - because the gov. increased the amount that an individual is entitled to in terms of this incap benefit! -therefore it became more beneficial for people to claim that than get a job!

And also ....government statistics.... friend worked in westminster in gordon browns office - basically gov comes up with a strategy/policy - stats ppl find the stats to support this! - not the other way around...

by 6pm tommorow, present a detailed discussion topic, detailing the taxes they pay, they amount they pay, and then do the same for the amount taken out by the same group.

Default 1 Year on !

Just struck me as a bit weird that this thread has been resurrected exactly one year after the last post on it - within an hour anyway (at least if you briefly forget about the 24hr clock)!

I knew I'd contributed sometime - got a bit confused for a while !

Excellent post cubby - sums it all up pretty well, apart from no mention of education - PSL's specialist subject - over to you Pete
