I'll never buy anything other than a RWD car these days.
4wd may be "Better" but I am a drifter and I know whats gonna give me the most smiles on my journey

Better acceleration,
better grip,
better roadholding,
better for covering point to point distances.
RWD is more fun though

Better acceleration?? Err.....no.

Better grip?? Yes - depending on conditions.

Point- to point - definately - nothing better though FWD is also great for bombing around in.

FWD? Now I know you're taking the ****.
I agree with you totally though, RWD rocks. I'll never buy a F or AWD car unless i have no choice at all, but you cant deny that it is lacking in certain qualities when you compare it to AWD. It just depends whether you are looking to "Have him in the twisties" or not care about the other drivers progess cos you are too busy leaping from apex to apex on full opposite lock.
Not that I do that of course, its illegal!

FWD is easy and you can bomb around in relative safety.

4WD is probably the best overall and all round tbh. There's nothing it can't do.

Anyone think Senior AP is trying on his 'Troll' outfit this evening?? Senoir AP, ever seen an 800bhp rwd supra against an 800bhp skyline at a drag strip. Supra spends most of the first 3 gears spinning its' little boots, where as mr skyline hooks up everytime.
So, 4wd IS better for acceleration. Rwd shines on a track only in the hands of a talented driver, who is able to balance the car with the throttle.

So why don't dragsters, the FASTEST accelarating things out theree, have 4wd? They use RWD.

Because they are built for one purpose. Thats why they have huge sticky tyres at the rear, and bicycle wheels at the front. Plus, Senior AP was talking about road cars, as was I. Also, not much come back for a dragster when the back end goes!

I have RWD, FWD and 4WD at the moment. I feel more comfortable driving the 4WD.

Here's someone who has been bitten by RWD:

Sounds more like he's been bitten by his lack of driving skills. What happens when he crashes his Evo and then no longer has 'faith' in 4WD, will he then give up driving. Cars don't crash on their own account.

I quote
it basically oversteered for no apparent reason and at reasonably low speed...30-40mph
So nothing to do with too much throttle while steering. Cars don't oversteer for no reason. If it wasn't his fault e.g. faulty car, diesel on the road etc. then having a 4WD would have hardly made a difference, after all once grip is lost, grip is lost.

Fair enough if you've no the interest in improving your skills or don't want the extra hassle/effort/challeng that RWD requires but SAY SO. don't try to dress it up any other way. I completely understand why some people thing RWD is not for them & fair enough but lets cut the bullsh1t about them being unsafe or dangerous (or as the evo guy says 'freakish behaviour'.

Very true. On the SXOC (200 sx club) loads of people "get bitten" by RWD, strangely, the majority of these are relatively inexperienced and driving cars with little more than standard power these are the same people who think our cars are lethal in the wet. Opposed to that are lots of people (me included) with more than 300 bhp going through the rear wheels, with no traction or stability control, and who dont have the same problems with "lethal RWD's" And if I turn my boost down so I'm only running about 250 bhp the car feels like a soft pussycat..........

Oh, and by no means am I a good driver, just took my time getting to know my car and respect the laws of physics..........

800bhp skylines and supras aren't exactly road cars either - they normally get towed to these events and get rebuilt constantly, so that argument falls through as well.
