Now thats impressive; in order to keep his rating as a Sharpshooter my father only had to shoot accurately at about 1750 yards and that was with an accurised .308 No4

Pretty good!
The first handgun I fired was a Colt Anaconda .44 Magnum with an 8 inch barrel. 
Quite an experience for the first timer! The second was a Ruger .22 rimfire!

The stupid thing is that, despite the fact that the .44 is ridiculous, I was still getting much better accuracy with it than with the semi auto's. The worst culprit was the 9mm Glock, it sprayed bullets all over the place at longer range. Talk about flicky! I Don't know why people rate them so much!

I think the reason the Glock is so popular is probably down to its reliability, you can put 3 times as many rounds down it than most other pistols before anything goes wrong . Plus its pretty safe - internal hammer, 2 safetys, etc.

I used to shoot 303's at school, right old dogs with rounds the size of NASA space rockets Firing the LMG from a pit at Folkstone ranges was the best fun, got a clip round the ear for not obeying the instructor and emptying a whole magazine in one burst instead of short bursts Would love to try the Barrett with the massively powerful scopes that they have now

I fired a 7.62 single shot pistol in the US a few years back - now that baby had recoil - it had the same round as the old SLR. I saw a couple of people knocked off their feet when firing it with bad firing posture.

It apparently kicked like a horse!!
According to the site they can make the rifles up to 4 bore!!! That's about 1"!!!

I used to be able to hit the target at 1000yrds with a GPMG with iron sites on a range whilst doing the gun run so a trained sniper hitting a target with a telescope ain't much to write home about unless it was in a force 10 gale then I would be impresed.

For 'home defence' in America, you can buy what is, essentially, an AR15/M16 pistol! If you were you to use the lower receiver from a mail order company youd end up with a 30rnd fully automatic M16 pistol.....

Got some feedback on the above...

Andy, the rifle is an accurised Ruger 77 mk1. ( full blue print on the action fitted with a 30" stainless match grade barrel) The caliber 30-06 ackly imp.The bullets were 125grn Nosler BT at a velocity of 3350fps.The sight system is custom made mounts on a Night force 3-15x 56 scope.
