like him or not, Harry IS a representative of this country
Not when hes a pissed 20 year old at a party hes not.

FFS people complain why the royals arent "normal" then obsess about **** like this. He could never choose to be normal because people would spend the entire time studying his "normality" and debating how "Normal" he is thus making it impossible.

It's really very simple. He takes our coin, he toes the line. That includes not embarrassing the UK in public, in private, wherever. His job is to act as a role model and an ambassador - it's not a role I think needs doing, but the rest of the country seems to disagree, which is fair enough - and that means not acting like a spoiled kid.

Unlike, say, Robbie Williams, whose whole raison d'etre is weath through self-publicity, the Royals can't just say, "ooh, it's a bit of a lark" because it shows that the 3rd in line to the throne really doesn't think very much about anything. He may only be 20, but at that age I was working, supporting myself, and having to grow up very fast. He clearly needs to do the same.

For better or worse, his job is 24/7 - fair enough, it was at a private party, but he should have thought that dressing as a **** was always a stupid decision, and bound to be commented on. If he didn't, then clearly he's got the brains of an amoeba, and I have to feel sorry for the soldiers he'll end up leading once he's got through Sandhurst.

Nicely put mate.

Anyway, he'll probably regret the whole affair once he ends up and Sandhurst Military Academy. Royalty or not, I would imagine he'll have a few problems there over this.

The lads a dick and as a 20 year old, his age bears no relation to his innocence.

And I agree with tracktime (although I think fancy dress parties are gay sad and very wrong) anyone turning up wearing a **** outfit would deserve a slap

Its a sorry state of affairs when a 20yr old can not go to a party and enjoy himself with out the wrath of the media and to many touchy feely liberals.
FFS, if he had gone as a cowboy, he wouldve offended all those american indians, as it wouldve been a reminder of their slaughter by the white man, if he had gone dressed as a gorrilla, it wouldve ben taken as a racist jibe, if he had gone dressed as a vicar, it wouldve been taken as some form of peadaphile joke...........people, there are far more important things to worry about than the antics of somebody out on the pi$$, I would be more worried about the liar in number 10 Downing street, or the drug pushers on street corners, or AIDs, or raising bank charges/interest rates or the humorless tw@ts that cant bear to see young people enjoying themselves at fancy dress parties.
Atleast at the end of the night he did not go out and beat the crap out of somebody stood outside a kebab shop, nor did he go round and vandalise some innocents car outside their house. Its a shame that more youngsters cant act in that way.

Personally it was stupid especially as we are approaching the 60th anniversary of the Holocaust, but thats the royal family for you,a totally overrated bunch of thicko's,completely untalented, poorly educated, good for nothing dimwits.

Me thinks I put my ramblings in the wrong thread..

Well here they are again.

WTF right has a public radio presenter to air his views like HE is right, yea, ok everyone has freedom of expression / speech.
The frenzy this has caused today is unreal.
Someone has already mentioned it but I'm sure many of you would have gone to that same party dressed as a Viking, tell me they didn't rape, pillage and generally be very nasty people indeed....
Yes I understand that there were millions affected by Hitlers henchmen at the time, you can't change history.
I just cant relate to why a person dressing up, DRESSING UP, not acting... like a Natzi has any possible hatred from those ACTUALLY affected by Hitlers SS
I'm sure there are a few on here that have had relatives ACTUALLY affected by him and I mean you no disrespect..
But those who have no links.... and I'm sure there are plenty of you..
How exactly does this effect YOU.. that's how YOU think and NOT how the bloody media want you to think..
One guy piped up on the radio "have we forgotten about the Tsunami already"
the presenters reply was "but the news media's life carries on".
How about the news media life carries on and FOLLOWS UP the Tsunami disaster story with how it LIFE IS TODAY (or lack of ) instead of dragging what is basically a kid who has gone to a FANCY DRESS PARTY in a costume (yea, not quite colonial blah blah, but tell me how many of you that have gone to one dressed perfectly to the title of the party)..
He may be Royalty but third in line for **** sake..
Get over yoursleves, he's just a kid enjoying HIS LIFE (and his dads money )
He'd didn't ask for the tag he's got.
Why should we dictate how he should act, just because of his status.
I know I wouldn't be told how to conduct my life just because of some link to the throne of the United kingdom, HA United, No chance of that with you lot stricking him down when he tries to act like a normal human being.
Then you moan about how unattached, and how out of date with society he is..
Best stop there as I'm outta breath.

I think he should be gassed myself, along with Ron Atkinson, on grounds of race or anything in that area, you arent allowed even the tinyest mistake or error of judgement or taste in this country, the ****'s were evil, we all know that but does that mean we cant go to a fancy dress party dressed as one, perhaps he was being ironic, perhaps those 180,000 people that died in the Tsunami dont matter anymore becuase a royal person did something silly, the papers seem to have forgotten already becuase they have a chance to get their own back on prince Harry, perhaps if they let the lad live his own life we wouldnt get to hear about it.

Who is actually going to be offended ?

I dont think the Jewish community will really lose any sleep over it, way too smart and why dwell on it anyway, prince Harry is unlikely to actually start another holocaust. Is the German community going to be offended, well sorry but even sixty years on, you cant expect a performance like that to be forgotten even if it was your grandad, I dont think we have been forgiven for the slave trade just yet (nor should we be) and that was a lot longer ago.

So thats the main parties dealt with, are we going to be offended as a nation, I personally am not, I just think it was ill judged and why did nobody tell him so, I think we like to feel a bit indignant as a nation, the papers whip it up and people tend to adopt those views and feel offended on behalf of others whether they are bothered or not, offended by proxy.

Suffice to say he knows for next time

on a similar vein..

I was on business in hungary with a group from work.. we all checked into our hotel rooms , which incedentally all had bars on the windows!!!.. and agreed to meet up in the lobby to go out for a drink in about 10-15 mins...

whilst i was getting changed there was this almighty banging on the door of the room next to mine and shouts and a pretty heated exchange followed by a loud slam of the door..

when i got to the lobby the group of guys are killing themselves...

turns out my colleague had decided to make my visit interesting... dressed in a black reefer jacket and white roll neck jumper had beaten hell out of my door, and when i (???) opened it, had demanded to see my papers in his best pseudo fake german uboat commanders accent...

yup you guessed it it wasnt my door, but the guy next door who promptly had a sh*t fit and launched verbally into my mate, who had to do some serious backtracking..

Hey mate, think your dead wrong on this one. No one wants to stop someone from having fun, but this may well have offended every British OAP that served in the World War. Harry needs to show a bit of respect for these people.

what about people who dress as terrorists to go to fancy dress parties, arent they offending the families/friends/fellow soldiers of soldiers who have been recently killed in iraq?its impossible not to offend people these days.i dont think those old british soldiers would appreiciate someone using their battles to win some sort of moral high ground in a silly debate.do you?they won a war ,they dont need some geek on the internet to fight a non existent battle for them.its you ,southern king, that needs to show some respect.

LOL this took off.

In case you wondered, i think the guy is thick because it was obvious what the reaction would be in the press. He needs to wise up a bit or he'll end up in the tower, his gran was not amused.

At 20 I was getting pissed, having a laugh, going to parties, ******** about, living off the state too. I did get my degree at the end though .

The guy can be advised 'till he's blue in the face, but rather then have experience thrust upon you, I'd prefer him to learn from his own mistakes TBH.

As said by many others previously......don't really see what all the fuss is about personally.....it is fancy dress!

How many other people have gone to a fancy-dress party dressed in something similar?? I don't remember seeing them plastered all over the news....so he is royalty and should know better He is a young bloke having a laugh....get over it!

If it is such a crime to wear these garments, why is it possible to purchase/hire them?

Its not a crime, its not even in poor taste (if you have a sense of humour)
This entire episode has been generated by a red top tabloid to improve sales. Nothing more.
The thin veneer of asking "members of the community who would be suitably outraged" to cover their ***** that this story was in the public interest was for the sole purpose of their final goal, namely putting a picture of Prince Harry on the front page wearing a **** armband.
The editor clearly has a score to settle as its obvious he and Harry hate each other in equal proportions. However, Harry will be able to up the stakes even further when the next royal photo opportunity comes up by banning the paper's celebrity royal photographer. Again.

This is the reason (amongst others) that I refuse to read newspapers. I'm sure the editor, Piers (unt or whatever his name is, went to bed last night with a feeling that his mother would have been proud of this days work.

In your pic should he not be smoking a joint as well! LOL All this fuss over a 20 year old, who had no choice over what family he was born into. I bet Phil is very proud of his prodigy...

I guess the spin helps sell some newspapers or coverup some more important issue in the World.

I asked my Dad what he thought of it. He fought bravely in WW2 and spent 2 years in one of the Stalag POW camps. Cancers got him and he's only a short time left. He knows this and his perspective is clouded and confused. His comments were " King and country, all my mates killed, I killed people, so he could wear a **** uniform".
He wasn't happy about it. I think it's fair to suggest that a lot of people from that generation have similar feelings.
Never forget what they did for this country.
