Don't think I'd be driving upto Bedford it's a long way from here.

In all seriousness I've never tracked my 205 and don't think I'd want to because I'd be afraid to push it. I've some experience of track driving but the 205 is so skittish on the limit I really don't think I've the skill to get 90% never mind everything out of it. That and the fact it has zero crash protection put me off.
Done a bit in my Golf though and enjoyed it.

Nurburgring you say..........I might have been there once or twice.

The link no longer works but 9mins 4 seconds is better than I managed in my Golf. Although I didn't actually time it. Done it on a bike as well, very scary.

Wheat beer at the Pistenklaus, just not too much eh? Or the lines begin to suffer.

Sabine always looks after you which is a bonus..... We normally try to limit ourselves to 35 beers, then im ok for a few quick laps at 8am when the track opens

Link must have been removed now, shame though coz its quite a good lap following my mate in his 944 turbo and includes a bit of an off at Adenau Forst.

She wasn't there when I visited the Pistenklaus and some bloke was driving the taxi. Not as well as her I might add.

I'd never even try to take the 205 on there since doing it on a bike so you are either a maniac or you have massive cojones. Crash protection is the order of the day because those barriers are very close.
My first ever lap was at opening time 8ish in the morning in a car. I span it somewhere around the flugplatz. Common apparantly, something to do with the camber. I said to my passenger "you know I think I might be a bit too much of a wuss to drive this fast" eased slighty off the accelerator and lift off oversteered onto the grass.
Lesson learned.

lol ............. Its a common mistake for people going there to think they can be super quick within a lap or two. That just aint the case. I did about 120 laps last year over 5 visits and im starting to feel confident. There is still loads more for me to learn and thats the appeal of the place. Castle combe you learn in a day, the ring takes your whole life.
I drive both the scoob and the pug round there and i shxit myself equally in both. You just need to be confident and understand your and your cars abilities. If it does a corner flat out once, it will do it everytime, so DONT lift off.

Oh and the pug is caged too which helps of course

I'd want a helmet next time I have a go. 120 laps eh? Beats my 30 or so over 3 years.
I still have no idea where I am most of the time either. Apart from the obvious landmarks like the Karussell(s)it's just so easy to think "I know what's coming next" as you go over yet another blind crest and realise in a moment of horror that you don't.

I'm going back again this year for sure but am toying with the idea of hiring a car from Koln airport rather than driving all the way over there.

How much faster is your Impreza than the Pug round it? I presume you are still timing and filming, last time we didn't do either. The authorities were cracking down on it bigtime following yet another fatality the day before.

Jahreskarte anyone? I would if I thought I'd get vfm out of it but to be honest every time I go I swear it will be the last.

The pug will be going over in March and staying at Ring Racing for the season. So I will be doing the flying thing also. Its much easier and saves the 275 mile trek across belguim.

I found the best way to learn the track was to break it into sections. Learn one then another etc till you have the whole thing in your head. There is nothing better than over taking a 911 turbo in a 140bhp french clutter box coz you know the way and he dont.

My best timed lap in the pug is 8.55 and the best in the scoob is 8.33. I would imagine i will knock 5 secs of the pug time this year and maybe 10 off the scoobs. It dont seem like a big difference but once you get under 9 mins you know the track and its much harder to make extra seconds here and there.

Jahreskarte ....yep for sure.... it makes good sense for me and stops me from worrying when i have a bad lap. I dont think im wasting money anymore and just chill and wait for the next lap

205 tricky to drive? Since when?

BTW (and back to topic ) if you still could read the german language you still might have REAL fun and big laughs. There are some german R32 forums...and they´re so "lovely"...

Have to disagree with you there mate .....the only thing you can really get wrong is the old lift off oversteer. You have to be doing something particularly stupid to do that in mine .....not sure about a standard car though

Lift off oversteer is available on demand in mine, sometimes without asking asking. When I bought it from a specialist in Sussex I took a 1.9 out as well which I thought was even worse.
I'm talking about in extremis here driving the thing as fast as I can, perhaps it's me not the car that's at fault. In day to day driving I don't have any problems but when booting it I've learned to treat it with respect. Still there is always more to learn.

I would suggest the reason you suffer so much from LOOS is that you enter corners far too quickly, if you get there and decide your too fast its too late....you let off and round the back comes.

Just been out for a 20 minute thrash in mine and even with 'cough' borderline front tyres its hard to make it miss behave. You would have to be an idiot to get into trouble in it. Its better than my scoob round the tighter bends IMHO of course

I'm not so sure I'm going in too quick, I learned my lesson on that one going back to day one at the 'ring. It's most noticeable during 'transitions' (not sure how else to describe it) in a complex of corners. Where you are having to lift off but not brake in order to get you entry speed correct for the next corner.
Tyre are OK but different brands front and back I reckon my car handles normally but it could deffo do with a new set of dampers.
There might be another explanation though "You would have to be an idiot to get into trouble in it" , I have my moments.

it made a massive difference to mine when i started running yoko A539's all round. Prior to that i ran different tyres front and back and the car just didnt feel right. I also run Koni adjustable suspension and that seems to make quite a difference. People will tell you its bull but a front and rear strut brace also helps, as has the cage. It just stiffens the whole structure up.

I can still make a hash of it. Had two big spins on the ring this year and luckily managed to miss the armco. Ive learnt not to go too quick for the first couple of laps when i arrive now
