Can you not see how it could be slightly frustrating that when a young person buys a scoob it is immediately labelled as a chav car by the annorak and fleece wearing 'scooby elders' who can't bear that their cars are being made more interesting and individual?????

Apparently my WR1 is chav because it has some stainless mesh on the front of it, and is a different colour to sonic blue, black or white. What on earth does a bit of mesh do to make the car chav?????

Most of the people on here don't even know what chav means.
but you ARE a CHAV

Sorry m8 but disagree - a WR1 is not chav and if it was it would take the full multi-colour paint and neons to make it so. Usually this label is given/thrown at older cars that start to then differ seriously from the original design. Putting on a cheap bodykit and a spoiler the Space shuttle would be proud of on a Scoob just tends to take away the aggressive look and make it another one of the pack. As I said previously anyone can do what they like to their cars but I don't have to like it. But again at least if we're all different we can get decent threads like this.

"oh look at all those rapscalliions with gelled hair driving the same car as us ... how an earth can they afford such an exclusive vehicle"

You should check out the thread about the mesh on the front of the subaru on the stand at the autosport show. The old grandads all started saying how the WR1 mesh is chav and that although they have bought mesh for their STi's because they have all sprayed it black their car's are not chav.

You gotta laugh at that.

Well, here is my take on this post This is my motor:

Only had it a little while, personally I HATE the stickers (my personal opinion) they WILL be comin off as soon as it stops raining and I can get outside with a hairdryer safetly

I also have had chav comments when I talked about putting dark Afterburner lights on the rear, but, I do this because:

1. I have looked at numerous lighting for my Classic
2. Dark afterburners in my opinion were the best I could find
finally
3. Because 'I' like them

I personally hate Lexus lights - but If I was a chav I would love them? but I must love them if afterburners are chav lights? errm right?

See this gets confusing lol.

I just want what 'I' like to make my car look the way 'I' want it too ... so if lexus lights are your thing - or neons are your thing (YUCK!) then fit them, do any mod that you wish .. we aint gotta drive it, just as you havent gotta drive mine

At the end of the day - you cant call someone a 'chav' unless you see them as a person - isnt a chav a burberry lover, baseball cap with gold etc ... www.chavscum.com

Nice Topic -

the word chav is actually just a label for the youth of today ... my cousin (who is 14) actually calls himself a chav and seems to be proud of it. He wants a scoob when he gets old enough simply because "they look phat"

I just don't understand how putting different lights, neons, bigger spoilers etc etc etc on a car is chav. The SWRT car has hundreds of stickers on it - don't see any of the w@nker posse calling solberg a chav!!

BORING BORING BORING BORING.

If you don't like the thread - don't read it. It was a good debate to start with.

I'm just 23 and have always wanted a scooby, i got one a year ago and it is an old model, a 94 wrx sti, this was a choice not a compromise. I wanted it because i prferred the shape (my opinion) and the money i've saved over a new one has been spent on mods. Only cosmetic changes are an sti v spoiler (the big one-how chav) and the wheels. Right, i'm young with an old scooby and a big spoiler, does that make me a chav then?

It wasn't a good debate - its the same old boring ****. People not being able to stand subaru's becoming affordable to young people who are going to do loads of crazy (in a good way) stuff to them.

I'm 22 mate and I had a 98 turbo before my WR1 - had all the gauges, decals, big spoiler ... looked fantastic and turned heads.

I think it's great that these cars are getting cheaper and being bought by the younger generation. Ensures the car goes down in history as an icon! I'm all for that.

I'm 35, an IT lecturer and I have two kids - I am far from being a 'chav'.

I have a MY95 WRX that I have had for about a year, which had been modded before I bought it with numerous stuff including V5 spoiler, Ninja exhaust and............'Lexus' lights. This is how it looked when I bought it, I have changed alloys since:

http://ianjeffery.fotopic.net/c166245.html

When I bought the car, I was going to change the exhaust, spoiler and lights but after a while thought bugger it and have left them on. In fact when people take the **** about the size of the spoiler etc. it just makes me want a bigger one.

I have seen a lot of threads on here regarding the lights. I actually don't think they look that bad on a silver car, but most people do and they are entitled to their opinion. The fog light is integrated into them, and now unless someone gives me a nice STI set they are staying on.

However, the other day I pulled out of work drove to the lights and right in front of me was a K-reg black classic with........'Lexus' lights!

As he saw me pull up behind him, he proceeded to rev the ***** out of his engine for some inexplicable reason. When green he blasted up to the car in front and slammed on, then went in the left lane (dual carriageway).

I went past him slowly (30 zone), and he had his window down with his arm hanging out and sort of scowled at me as I went by, even though I gave him a customary wave.

Two classics, one K-reg and one M-reg. One black, one silver. Both modded. Both have.........'Lexus' lights.

Only one classic is being driven by a TOOL/CHAV/etc. etc.
