I paid £16,350 for my 05 WRX in Crystal Grey. It's an EU import but full UK Spec and all usual waranty (3 year etc)
The ONLY things that are different than one sourced from a UK dealership are that I will have to pay for her first service and although the imobiliser comes as standard, I have had to get a Cat 1 alarm installed (Alliance Car Imports sorted all this out and it cost me £300) oh... the other difference is... I saved 4k ish!!!!!
So I don't think the WRX/EVO 260 is a fair comparison...... £££ per ton or £££ per BHP or £££ per size of smile....... NOTHING is gonna touch the Scoob!

I used to have a Golf GT TDI before the Scoob. There are two downsides:
Low end torque is non existant compared to the Golf
Economy is absolutely horrendous in comparison (but if you aren't paying for fuel...). MPG averages at about 25. Motorway at 60mph(zzzzzzzzzzzzz) = 30 mpg
I've got an 03 WRX which handles better in the wet than the Golf could manage in the dry (really!!). The only real problem I've found with the Scoob is that it highlights wether you are a good driver or not - it's a far better car than I am a driver...can get you into a lot of trouble if you don't respect it (even with the fantastic handling).
The only advice I can say is go for it. I thought about it for months, someone once said to me that it is a car you HAVE to experience cos you'll always wonder 'what if'.

Had a S40 T4 Volvo before my 04WRX PPP. Ride in the scoob slightly firmer but just as comfy as the Volvo on long journeys. Volvo was quite quick in a straight line in the dry! But the scoobie is awsome. I'm averaging 26mpg and cover over 36K per year. Best car I've ever owned apart from the poor stereo!!
As for the Evo, lovely car but just not practicle for the mileage i'm doing with 4.5K servicing and the ride sooo sooo hard, great on the track but not for me.
So go for it m8 you won't look back.
