Been on the phone to the police and I'm now getting all of the evidence together to take to my local station.

If the skanker is a trader the his local authority Trading Standards Dept may be able to help you but if its a private individual then they wont. In that case you should write to him immediately requesting a refund (due to his dishonesty/misrepresentation); send two copies, one first class and the second recorded delivery. If he doesnt reply satisfactorily write again giving him a reasonable period of time in which to meet your demands, say fourteen days; if he doesnt then visit your local County Court and take it from there. For a claim of up to £300 you will be looking at a fee of £30. Hopefully the threat of a CCJ will prompt him into action. The digital pictures shouldnt be a problem because youre dealing with civil law rather than criminal law; you only need to make a convincing case in order to win.

Now that you mention 'Photoshop' its obvious; it looked like wear to me, although it didnt look right, if you know what I mean?

Good luck

Simon

I was thinking of writing to him too. It isn't a trader I believe I hope he reads the email I sent him and replies soon, I'm off to the Police station this afternoon to report it.

I didn't see the photoshopping at the time it's only after looking at the area on the photo and they zooming in that you can see it quite blatantly

Looking at the photo again...The 'photoshopping' is clearly visable now...

What a cheeky little ******

Even though the little ****** lives at the other end of the country, I would be tempted to go and pay him a visit, for a little payback...

I know If only I'd seen it earlier. That was a zoomed in cropped version of the photo he sent, not very intelligent

Are they Halfords' seat covers?

Surely you must have noticed the big, red, ring-shaped stain, nevermind the photoshopped area?

If you want to contact trading standards then from what I know you have to speak to your local trading standards office first, not his. Not sure how much they'll be able to do though as the seller is not a trader.

You wouldn't believe that he's just replied to my PM with the photos etc telling me that he's got another seat if I want it

Yep that's right I contacted his earlier and they emailed me back telling me to contact mine and the Police just did the same. I'll do it in a minute

Yesterday I received this PM from the guy replying to my first PM when I didn't realise that the photo was fake. This was my second PM showing him the photos. Waste of time now because he knew what they looked like before he sent them

Basically you deceived me and I want my money back, that interior with a hole in wasn't worth £150 and you know it.

Hope it turns out alright Paul, it had not occurred to me that his photos were sent to you digitally so I see the problem from your side. Not very honest of him I must say.

Default Robbing Paul to pay Peter?

Paul,

I'd say you have a clear-cut case of deception. This guy has deceived you into buying an item that he has described incorrectly. He's now afraid that you take it further and are risking his, no doubt, 'good' reputation.
He clearly knew what he was doing and i wonder what he thought would happen when it was discovered he'd altered the picture?!

Hope it works out well for you.

I would like to state in my defence ....................

I might be an opinionated old todger but I would never, ever stitch anyone up ..................... the short term gain is simply not worth losing your self respect and dignity, in my humble ... as ever

Hope you get it all sorted ...... but, it still leaves a bad taste in the mouth how someone could do that, ESPECIALLY if its someone off here!

paul, wouldn't it be a shame if another user did some detective work and named and shamed this person.

I cannot believe that this person is still posting, espacially after stiffing one of the gestapo .
