I'd like to think that was also down to my fantastic driving skills, but I very much doubt it.
Having said that, it's all based around the Sylva chassis (Jeremy Edward's designed, IIRC). I'm sure someone did manage to get a Griffith 500 engine into a Sylva Striker once. They do certainly benefit from good handling and light weight (brother's Fury is ~550kg, I have come across a ~360kg lightened, fireblade engined striker)

You can fit a small block chevy in a old RX-7 rather easily. For those of you who mention the Ford V8, it ain't no chevy! Chevy usually has more low end torque then Ford engines.

My mate squeezed SBC into Opel Manta, it went well had to fit Commodore back axle and spent a load of dosh making fancy spaghetti Manifold back in 1988, he;s moved on now to Supra IV engine into a BEEMER.
You can squeeze more Power from the turbo 3 litre ,has 750 bhp runs high nines on Street tyres over in Bangkok.Cost a packet though.

Mark, you may be right, I was looking at some American website. Probably is the weight with a fat yank on board
Early spec 944's seem to be around 1180kgs, now that's gettng more like it. Probaby be nearer 1250 by the time you've got an SBC in there, though

I'm sure you could fit one into a Justy....
There's a 5.7 Chevy V8 at work, which came out of a boat, and although we threw a lot of the bits away, it does look as if it'd fit, just going by size & dimensions. It is up for grabs btw
I'm just wondering about swapping a V4 outboard engine into it tbh, as the Justy has a 3 cylinder 1.2, which is pretty bloody nasty (as well you might expect) As long as I can get the gearbox to fit - probably a custom bellhousing, I'd imagine - it should go in no problem. The only problem is, the one that's available for the moment, is a 2 stroke 100-odd hp Yamaha engine....... Would make for some interesting driving Straight through stainless exhaust It'd sound ridiculous
Anyone done that yet?
