Id say sort of, (think we've had this debate before angrynorht ) to be fair, chelski have bought therselves a team over the past 18 months but utd have been buying their team over a longer period.... its no different, infact you gotta give chelsea credit to building a team who can play together..... chelsea have hardly brought in the worlds top players have they? theyve built a TEAM.

utd have spent silly money in the past and not so long ago (ala rooney) and dominated the football world. to be honest as an outside the prem football fan I think its livened it up a bit nice to see other teams who are far more superior than utd..... sick of seeing glory supporters walking around the middle of nowhere looking all smug...

Up the blues (and I dont mean chelsea )

last final word. why cant someone have a sugar daddy a buy a team now? its only fair since the premiership is all about money..... you want to spend a few weeks watching lower leage football and you might remember what footy is all about

I agree dave, I know united have spent money and large amounts of it in the past, but you can't argue that the success United had that brought them to be able to spend that kind of money was gained through the success of home grown talent in the nineties ala Beckham, Scholes, The Nevs, Giggs... plus some low cost shrewd investments in players like Cantona, Ole and Sheringham.

I too am sick of seeing the glory hunters, but as I mentioned before, Chelsea are also getting this effect. Their attendance's have only peaked at 95% + since his arrival - undoubtedly down to the great football being played there at the moment.

I am merely stating that maybe some who point the finger at United purely from an illogical ABU attitude need to calm down a little bit and look in their own back yard first

I have no problems with teams going out receiving investments and spending on big players.

But the effects wild spending such as a couple of hundred million in 2 seasons only serves to increase wage demands across all the leagues including the lower leagues, without which we would be missing some of the best players of our time (see above). You as a Latics fan will be all to aware of the bad effects money has on small clubs.

As for last nights game, I never expected to win. I was of course hoping we would but to be honest Giggsys goal was enough for me to take home last night.

think you'll find utd got most of their money to dabble in the transfer market from becoming the first club to really "sell" itself to the public, its utd and sky who turned football into a business new shirt every season home/away and 3rd kit... all the shares they sold out to the public etc.... granted they did it slightly different to chelsea but in effect the same end product was bought

Sky had a part to play due to the demand to watch United, but nobody would have wanted to watch them if they didn't have people like the youth team setup coming through in the first place.

There isn't a new kit every season, they are on rotation every 2 years. See Arsenal for pimping themselves to fans kitwise (claret kits.)

hey when I was a lad there was a new kit out every year

as for the youth team, people like the nevs and scholesy orginally started at the oldham school of excellance where they was poached away from us with heavier wages not just by utd either... smaller clubs have become feeder clubs now for the bigger clubs which gives us jack in the long run...

ohh well give us scholesy at the endof the season and we'll call it evens lol

The reason why most smaller clubs remain simply feeder clubs now is down to the gulf in cash, and the fact the FA are fecking useless and have made it cheaper to buy from abroad than it is to homegrow, so the cash is no longer going back to English grassroots but out to other countries.

End of next season and he's all yours.

LOL no doubt United will catch on to this and we will see a rash of "Centenary" kits or Celebration kits every couple of years now. Great idea for Nike and the clubs, maybe not so great to the fans.

You really don't get it do you?

There is not one United fan out there who is jealous of Chelsea. We are especially not jealous of your spending power, or the fact that your are funded by a crook who will no doubt bugger off someday and leave you in a state.

Had you been out to watch your favourite team last night you would know this.

BTW, I am not arguing anything, I'm merely pointing out a couple of facts, you are the one gibbering like a baboon about attendance's from over 50 years ago and how massive Chelsea are compared to United.

Actually come to think of it, you sound a bit like a fan of another massive team that plays in blue. :P

Who harps on about buying a team, certainly not me, think thats you.
Ok lets not mention anything from the past at all, lets just talk about now.
We are top of the league NOW, we beat you again last night .There you go present day facts. Seems to this "baboon" that if United are winning everything then everything is ok, someone comes along and starts beating them all the toys come flying out of the pram.
Am I right in saying that if you don't go to every game your team plays, your not a true fan?????
Actually come to think of it, you sound like a fan of another massive team that plays in red

Serious point here now Dazza Do you see any glimmer of hope as we shaded it by 2 points last season and I am afraid you are something like 5 points worse off than we were at this time last season and the teams around you seem to be taking the points off you.

I don't follow football, but I must say that I thought Exeter played an outstanding game against Man united in the second round of their cup tie.

They never gave up and they made Manchester really have to work to win the game. I enjoyed every minute.

Very Funny - Born in Changi (Singapore) which means I should really support Real Changi - But they don't play so good now. Started following The **** when We moved to London when I was about 8 years Old. Now Living in Aberdeen and followed the mighty Dons for the first 5-6 years when I was up here (their initials are AFC and at the time both Aberdeen & Arsenal were sponsored by JVC.
