Although i have never owned one i will add to the opinions of the 205 gti
i drove a mates 1.6 gti a few years ago and it blew me away with regards to the handling - i have yet to drive a car that has more feedback and go kart like handling through the twisties.
i cannot comment on the 1.9 as i have never drove one.
