Maybe butterfly & lock knives etc are banned to reduce the number of incidents like this.

The section applies to articles which have a blade or are sharply pointed, falling into the same broad category as a knife or sharply pointed instrument''

Doesn't make it easy....

Am I right in thinking then , that it's also illegal to have a 'concealed' knife, i.e. one in a bag. with the purpose of getting it from a to b, that is.

I wondered about taking my machete - about a 10-11 inch blade btw - to a mates house in leeds, to help with a bit of woodwork. sharpening stakes to hammer into the ground for a fence and so on. Occurred to me though, that although I didn't have it in my pocket, I was still carrying it, so subject to the same conditions?
I dunno.
I use a small (ish) lock knife every day at work to slice into parcels etc. Probably a 2.5'' one. Highly illegal I'm sure, but it ain't a flick or a butterfly knife.

Tbh though, with a little practice, you can open a normal blade as fast as a butterfly knife, so perhaps all such things should be banned.......

The legislation is a minefield on offensive weapons and points and blades.

It's common sense, though. If a person has in their possession (doesn't have to be on them) an offensive weapon without good reason, then they are up to no good, or have the potential to be up to no good!

There's a big difference between someone having a lock knife hidden in their sock or machete in the boot of their car than a chef with set of kitchen knives in a bag when he's on his way to work.

If police don't believe an excuse given for possession in a public place then they will arrest and let the court decide.

I and a few *mates* had some of these when we was about 14-15 years old. We was quite good at opening and closing them up. Putting on a flurry of handle spinning. We got them from a shop in Soho, the sales person must of known we was kids but did not care. We was into them after watching some Kung Fu films and seeing Big Trouble in Little China at the Flicks. A few months later after a heated argument turned nasty. It ended up with me getting stabbed in the chest narrowly missing my heart. I now put it down to the 'stupidity of youth' and me wanting to fit in with my *mates*. The last time I saw any of these *mates* was over 15 years ago. So Chaos are you still at school and are easily impressed or are you stupid as well?

Not at all. If I was as strange as you then I wouldn't think you were weird, would I? So is this the part where you become frustrated and abusive? Come on, let's have it!

Not at all, I leave that to your less intelligent stalkers. I am a far higher class of stalker.
Come on, let's have it!
Oooh, where would you like it ducky?

Even my pygocentrus pirayas would be dinsinterested in this stalker. He seems a little, well, boring as stalkers go.... and I should know, I've seen my share!

Not boring, subtle. Learn that!

I know there is nothing you would like more than for me to launch into a verbal tirade against you, those that do are so easy to shoot down aren't they? And we all know there's nothing you like more than easy targets, hence your vicious persecution of defenceless cats, etc.

Ok, better. Here comes the abuse.... just a trickle at first, but come it will.....

Go and have a good search through all my posts and come back with a sentence here or there, taken completely out of context as it no doubt will be, that suggests I "persecute" cats. It's too easy just to say it. Anyone can register a new username and say that.

Totally unimpressed so far.

Where, pray tell? I haven't typed any abuse despite your lame attempts to bait me into doing so.

No! You're confusing me with someone who spends most of his life on this site, like, erm, you.
Totally unimpressed so far.
