no respect for police whatsoever. Had some trouble a while back and it wasnt as if someone nicked my sweets either, what did they do? F all, just asked lots of questions which was a waste of my time.

Its not very professional what they do, as they say, you shouldnt take your emotions into your place of work, what do they do? exactly that, they will treat u depending on their mood which is a load of crap to be honest.

Well get used to it all guys, Britain is fast becoming a police state/country. Big brother hear we come!! and its all Blairs fault lol!!! No seriously whoever votes for him in the next election need their heads looking at.

Btw i dont have any respect for the police either, i did at one time but iv had a few nasty (very nasty) incidents/encounters with them and its changed my whole outlook on things. Thats not to say i dislike them all as i have friends who are in the force.

hostagewrx seems to have given up on us - if he really is a traffic cop, give him credit for trying to be helpful. If some of the posts on this thread are supposed to be banter, it doesn't look like it to me.

A couple of valid points IMHO in the original thread - impreza's etc do get used as getaway vehciles etc, pulling them might net you a "proper criminal". Something that was alluded to as well is that even if you do catch the "proper criminals" half the time the courts let them off with sod all anyway. And being polite and reasonable - whilst it won't get you off a serious offence - is always more likely to get you a fair and reasonable response than "kicking off on one".

As a general view, I'd say the police are like any other group of people - plenty of decent people, some less decent. It's not your average constable or seargant that sets policy on nicking speeders and not bothering to respond to burglaries or whatever.

Another good intentioned copper walks straight into the scoobynet snare!!

I was just the same, defend the honour and all that, try to put a reasoned argument across that we're not all idiots!! You soon learn its not worth it mate, just get on with the job and smirk to yourself at some of the cop bashing that goes on here. It's quite funny really.

We didn't join to be loved so why bother trying to change attitudes. Just remember that when some low life nicks the pride and joy who they come running too (but then slag off when we don't find it cus they didn't put tracker on, left keys next to door, sat there with doors unlocked etc).

I'm same as you, drive a scooby, love performance cars etc but am also in great position of driving Range Rover Vogues (the ones with the small red squares on if you know what i mean) at work as well so TTTTHHHHHRRRRRPPPPPPPTTTTTTT to haters!!

Ah that feels better!!

Well, the thread has developed as I expected over night, looks like some people on here understand how the job works and some people live with the bill and newspapers.

At least it has kept a few people entertained. For the record no I am not a traffic cop but for some people here I might be that guy that turns up when you call 999 because five lads from Salford have come to break into your house and bet you up and nick your pride and joy.

No-one other than a copper can ever understand the job but hey thats life.

My other question is ........... who will come to you when you lose it on a bend and have a nasty accident? Traffic cops and section officers .... tell them then when your hanging upside with blood coming from your head that you'll sort it out yourself.

Cheers

Good reply hostagwrx, SN has to be the worst bb for copper bashing on the internet. FWIW I respect coppers and the shít jobs they have to do regardless to the fact... my daughter is one.

Welcome to the resident trolls too hostagewrx.

BUT .... a guy near to me got burgled the other day, the cops came out, sent the helicopter up and when I got up in the morning they'd put crime prevention advice leaflets through everyones door (quite useful really) So it shows some are good, some are bad just like everyone else really

I totally respect EVERY policeman!!

why you may ask because they do a job a could and would not want to do

the same goes for Nurses, Doctors, Army, Navy, Airforce, Firemen etc etc..

in my view anyone who does a public service is a credit to all of us, even scumbags one day may need the help of the police or nursing profession

So here's a huge thumbs up..... nah dammit a double thumbs up to all who serve to make our lives either safer or healthier

I know all to well that this is unfair, the scum who dont register their car, go thru gatso's drive off at petrol stations without paying, no insurance etc etc the list goes on, they get away with it all. When they are caught the courts do nothing!!!! Scum go and burglar ur house, smash ur car windscreen, what happens conditional discharge, courts basically say dont do it again!!!!

But motorists!!!!! Heres £60 and points on your licence (u have a licence, scum do not) and ur insurance will go sky high, (u have insurance, scum do not). Its unfair, i agreee.

Glad to see some people on here have respect for the Police and can see the implications of not wearing a seat belt, i have seen them too many times to recall and not a pretty sight, so of course if we see someone not wearing a seat belt we are going to deal with it. Granted not all the times we deal with it in terms of fines but its the descretion of the officer.

And the line, 'I always drive with my seatbelt on, I had only just pulled off' isn't good enough.

My advice to stand u in good stead is to agree, apologise, no attitude and show some interest in road safety. Cant guarentee this will stop a FPN coming ur way but to be honest mmost Police (except traffic cops) will probably only give u verbal advice.

Saying that, take the **** and not put ur seat belt on when seeing a cop car and its game on!

Just remember lads, Impreza's are stolen all the time by the scum usual ways:

1 - Break down your door at tea time, 4 lads with claw hammers making a nice work of art on ur face and taking ur motor (happens too mush!)

2 - Traffic lights/junctions, u get dragged out of ur seat or window smashed, dragged out and beaten up, see the back of ur lovely car go wheel spinning off.

3 - Nicked straight from were u parked it, no excuses enough ways of protecting ur car these days

4 - Using a fishing rod hook ur keys thru the letter box whilst ur asleep upstairs ....... another one far to common!!!

5 - Autotrader, ur selling it, some lads come to meet u to have a look, get beaten and there gone

The list goes on!!!!!

Most of the stolen Imprezas are used in serious crime, armed robberies/ram raids etc, so their stolen by professional serious violent criminals.

One more point: Criminals use cars, so cars is a good way to catch them

Enjoy no doubt will start something here with this one!!

In the time it took you to type all that out, 10 imprezas were stolen. Stop wasting your time on here, get out and do something about it.

Get the good coppers do something useful...and get rid of all the bad coppers?

Perhaps after that my respect for them will be restored

Its a shame the Police are fairly useless when dealing with armed car-jacking etc.

Thanks for the tips though.

See point 2 and the thread posted above, ps if we had a magic wand that could fix and sort and detect all crime then we would use it. In the end everyone expects us to be at the right place at the right time to catch them. What they forget is, if a cop car is behind you, parked next to you, at traffic lights with you YOUR NOT GOING TO GET CAR JACKED! Bear it in mind, its not rocket science, but always over looked cheers

I got car-jacked at gunpoint on the same road as the main police station. But they were 'too busy' at the time to deal with it. Must say starting investigations 3 days later was helpful

What should the crime be recorded as? (was attempted ie they didnt get the car)

Just curious as I think they may have downgraded it for crime stats

"Attempt robbery" serious offence life imprisionment and especially with the use of a fire arm!!!!

Must admit the Police do have policy that if its an armed crime then we as unarmed officers HAVE to stay out of the area!!!! Armed units will be called to a location nearby but might take upto 40 minutes to come to you, its bollox, as has happened to me on many occasion, we (the coppers) stand at some RV point 1 mile away and all we want to do is to go to the scene and help the victim and catch the scum. But its not our call. Granted i dont really want to get shot, but im a copper so thats the risk i am prepared to accept.

yeah crime stats!!! thats the government and NOT the Police!!!!

Cheers

Things like attempted car jackings isnt recorded as a crime, so that the goverment can tell you that they have cut crime figures down.

Not only is this a load of crap, but exactly what do you suppose the burglar gets away in, cos he sure as hell doesn't carry your 42"plasma screen back to his house!!!!

But enough, i too have been here before on SN....i just like to keep it going, you guys crack me up.....like the comments say above, if you really think you've been hard done by, make a complaint....if you think we just waste time, don't call us, and if you want us dealing with certain issues, tell my boss/your MP/someone that cares, cos my hands are tied (and much to my disgust....but hey, you probably voted Labour, so there you go)
