Unhappy

i always remember my first encounter with the police-being rung by my brother at 3am as a police car had run into the back of his car writing it off and the policeman said he had put his brakes on deliberately-lucky my brother is calmer than me-rang the police station and stopped the policeman leaving the scene!!6 months later policeman was sacked and had an encounter with one of my brother's less calm friends who kindly broke his jaw for him, that and the local police watching a bouncer jump on a man's head outside a nightclub-especially for the bouncer waving at them after and them waving back from a fully liveried police car-no respect at all

LOL!! that rings a bell p1doc... yeh i remember once when i was about 18, i was sat in my car eating some food and two big lads opened my door and pulled me out punching and kicking me. I instantly recognised them (jealousy thing) and had many run in-s with them over my car previously. One had me by the scruff nearly picking me off the ground while the other was just laying into me like a punch bag. I will never forget the moment as the police riot van passed us within meters and all the coppers inside laughing at us. They slowed right down for which seemed like ages then went and parked up and watched us. BUT 'did any officers get out'???? did they ****!! they just sat there watching these geezers beat seven shades of sh*t outta me. This really got me going and as soon as the big guy dropped me (him thinking i would go down) i knee'ed him as hard as i could in the ***** and upercuted his mate in the jaw sending him down. Waving to the riot van to help me they just stared at me blankly. I couldnt bloody believe it, i really couldnt. So i though '**** it'!! and proceeded to beat the hell out of the guy who was trying to get up whilst trying to stop his drug dealer mate killing me. I managed to knock the one guy out clean smashing his nose and eye socket (blood everywhere) but then some unknown person came outta no-where and to my amazment struck this mothers head with a wine bottle sending him flying accross the road. That was enough for the thugs and when i managed to gather myself we approached the riot van and banged on the window asking them why they didnt help me. They were still laughing at this point and said, 'looked like you didnt need any help sonny' ... What a bunch of cheeky unprofessional scum, they were no better than the tw*ts that attacked me. Thought they were there to help out the public and stop this type of thing not bloody spectate. I could of been really hurt, Disgusting!!. Rang an out of town station as the local was closed and told them of the assault. They knew the two that had attcked me and said that if ever they went for me again to whack them with a spade and burry them up the moutain as they were sick of dealing with them. Unbelievable!!!!!! They then laughed and told me that they would keep an eye on them. huh!! yeh i NOTICED!! From that moment on i lost total respect for the pigs!!

Sounds like the post above is pre PACE days as they are called, can i ask how long that was, as these days that wont happen. But hey sounds like a ****e lot in the riot van though, no excuses.

As everyone in here states, they would love to kick the **** out of them, well as a copper you get that opportunity as most wont come quietly and lova a fight.

Petewrx .... like you public order post mate! used it a few times but wont go into details, sure u know when that one comes into play.

I am a cop in Glasgow(not traffic),me and two colleagues have Scoobs and our shift ,in general, are not interested in hassling innocent motorists(I last issued any kind of traffic related ticket about 3 years ago).We dont have quotas to make and with my service I can tell the gaffers to spin. However if we pull a car load of scum then obviously were going to work it up them and do them for anything we can.I treat the public as I would want to be treated if I was stopped and i'm sorry that some forumsters have had some bad experiences with the police. Please remember we are not all *******s and I can assure you that some of the scenarios i've just read would just not happen up here.Whether thats due to lack of manpower or what I dont know.
Sometimes I forget myself and flash and wave at passing Scoobs from the patrol car!!

Guy's
When I've been pulled & been nicked it's been my own fault, ridding my bike or driving my car like a fool.
I learnt a great deal of road craft riding a motorcycle, and having moved up the ranks in faster cars, I've also learnt to respect the road & other road users, never taking for granted the scene in front of you.

I've been hassled loads of times through my licence years, if you've done wrong then it's only yourself to blame, If you get pulled then it may not be you driving your car....

My vote is for the Bill, yes there are the bad examples outhere, but hey there's far more villians than Bill.

keep the streets safe, or make them a safer place

Hostage,

No, not heard about that one yet, where abouts were they used? Sure it'll come through to us eventually!!

Totally agree with the RV point thing, used to bug me immensley when I was on section, precious time wasted while the idiots are strolling away/ Unfortunatelt some members of the community are so pi55ed off with our response times they think shouting 'GUN' will get us there quicker where as we know it slows down response time as ARV's can be miles away (we recently got a call to south Altrincham and we were in Denton!!!).

Fact is you drive a scoob you know the risk, we aint there to hold your hand and we aren't always gonna a. find the car, b. catch the crims. BUT, its a piece of metal, someone opens your door and you see the business end of something nasty, ask then what CD they want on and get the hell out of there, too much violence being used at minute for my liking!!

What do you want me to say, yeah no problem, the cars parked round the back and the bad lads are in the cells??

On average we put out 4-5 patrols on a shift and that may be to cover an area the size of the city centre (in Manchesters case).

People have distorted ideas of what we can accomplish, we are under resourced, overworked and stretched to the limits regularly.

And YES, I knew that when i joined and YES I get a decent wage but all the cops on the forum will agree we are pushed!!

Now i'll get back in the reeds after that bite!! (Runs off laughing!!!)

I find the problem with the Police is they tend to end up looking like the bad boys - usually by the muppets in govenrnment at the time and what whim takes their fancy this month.

I would like to see better funded Police and more of them and also The CPS and judges do their jobs properly. I feel we are all let down by them.

I have freinds in 'the job' and a brother in law in SO19 London and subsiquentlyi hear quite a bit of what goes on and who pulls the strings.

Keep up the good work!

Wow, we do all have a great deal to say.
Some of you know about the time I pulled in a scoobynet player and we had words about his number plate, and how we met up again a few weeks later at santapod....oops the naughty (ish) number plate was still on his car. We both laughed about it. I had some fellow 5ive-0,com players with me and he other fellow had Scoobynet geezers and gals with him. we got chatting and it was soon discovered "We are Human". He got embarrased, we all had a laugh and, yes as someone mentioned in an earlier post....The old Feds are probably the best.
Yes I agree, (I am one of those old feds.) One has a sense of humor, one also has an ear to listen, one also uses ones discretion.
Younger officers need to learn, and do. They take hard knocks on the way.
You know how to make friends, when you learn to Listen and communicate.
I work the M25 and M40 and sometimes the M4, I have also done the M1. With some of the nasty accidents and real bad driving that takes place, a Fed with a sense of humor can be your best friend.I do all this in cars and on a motorcycle(Brrr its cold and wet sometimes).
I know you all have pre thoughts and hates and bad stories about Police Officers, We all have bad stories about a lot of people. I have bad stories about Roadside Assistance Companies...RAC, AA, Green flag. We all love to hate something or someone.

Bad boys who think they are the Bees Knees The Jack the Lad who likes to speed and do law enforcers heads in, all hate the Police. Inturn the Police hate them (But who gets the last laugh)

Man U....Leeds. for eg; See someone needs someone to hate. Cowboys..Indians and baddies always hate the goodies. We all hate estate agents...(Sorry to any estate agents on scoobynet)

Think I have made my point. Scoobynet does not need feds with attitude dictating, thats the way to get blasted away. Lots of feds do check out Scoobynet some are in your face others take a back seat. At the end of the day. You either love em or you hate em. But always remember ONE DAY YOU MIGHT JUST BE THANKFULL FOR THAT BLUE LIGHT. (Rant over)

Its nice to see when a Scoobyneter pops into 5-o for a visit, he or she always gets a warm welcome and some of you even stay.

BTW I was taken for a spin and then I took the wheel of a mates Scooby the other week......WOW I was treated to a moment or too. (Cheers) he knows who he is, and is a regular here on Scoobynet. I always called scoobies "Family saloon cars" I now know different! We left everyone in the rear view mirror (Honest Officer My road Angel does not lie, I was not speeding). I was making progress.

Thumbs up

hostage,

Yeh this was about 8 years ago mate but since then ive had similar incidents which are disgusting to say the lease. Ok i admit sometimes i used to get pulled for driving like a tool and rightly so, but on other occassions when i was younger i was subject to all manner of abuse and bodly harm at the hands of the police and in no way was i disrespectful to them until they kicked off. I will never forget some of those incidents and unfortuantly they have tainted my attitude.

Dont get me wrong, there are some very good police officers such as wassa and yes i do remember reading that thread mate and i thought it was cool and that there should be more police like you but i think you guys are a dying breed tbh which is very sad.

Thanks scrappydoo. Yes i know exactly where you are coming from and I hope that most feds do learn from the Old and Bold, but when they are let loose on their own they tend to get excited and get this almighty image of Do as I say and I am the law so I am always right. I would always listen and always willing to back off and give in like a gent. But when I get niggled by a "Barrack room Lawyer" i am at my best...I always get the last laugh.

Why this americanism FEDS?????

They are Police Officers NOT Feds!!

I've been chased by the Police on, I think, 3 occassions - they caught me once, and then the dick was off-duty but tried to give me grief (tosser!!) I told him where to shove himself!! He was about 20 or something! THE WORST!!

His OLDER mate was in his car calling him back, I assume he was a coppa too .......

Off duty and still acting a dick!!

Coppas should only be allowed out with the public when they are 30 years + ..... younger than that and they should be put behind a desk until they grow up

All IMHO of course!!

Pete

OH, yes, I must add ............ the above was a LONG LONG time ago!!

"foot pursuits and a cracking laugh"

WhooooooooooHoooooooooo Tally HO!!

The Police have a problem with these 20 year old dicks .......

Personally mate i think sometimes its the older cops we have problems with. All the ,'in my day' and 'pre-pace we'd have sorted it!'

It's horses for courses, younger guys and gals for some jobs, older bods for others!!

In my role you've got to be able to take a pasting and keep on going and i'd not have it any other way!!!!

hehe, love to read the posts, when i have been away for sometime, so much goes on, its great to see peoples opinions, and yes i am young (ie 20-30 (not wishing to offend anyone)) but i am old enough to deal with armed robberies, old enough to deal with child abuse and rape sof 3 month year old baby girls, old enough to deal with accidents with head missings and pick up the heads and recover them, old enough to sort out domestic violence isssues with couples much older than me, old enough to talk someone down from a motorway bridge who wants to end it all and old enough to arrest a murderer whilst eh body of a women with 8 wounds to head by claw part of a claw hammer whilst the woman is lay there in a heap of blood. So sorry if i enjoy the driving to the jobs, but i know that when i get there its time to be serious and to deal with things that the public have no idea and no concept about.

Its amazing, how many people just stand and watch when a fight breaks out on the town centre, but some young lad (who is only really wearing a uniform) without fear and at risk to himself goes and gets stuck in, yeah u stand there and let me do that.

I am young, but i have, as every copper on here would have done, have done things and dealt with things that you can't dream off.

Anyway, rant over, i'm glad to see that there are other coppers on here and were not scared of enojoying our job and being who we are. Just remember were not that bad, we drive Scoobies ourselves, remember that when u look over and nodd. hehe cheers

That’s an interesting point you make about jumping in when you see a fight. You may want to let my mate know your feelings who has just done 3 years for doing exactly that. Out on the town minding our own when we get to the cab office, there is some pissed up Muppet giving a woman the beating of her life. He does the honourable and steps in to stop it, and yes there were loads of people around, this Muppets mate takes umbrage to this and smashes a bottle over his head, which resulted in 16 stitches, my mate who does kickboxing and can handle himself bangs two good punches into this **** face and also lays out the dick that’s beating the woman.

Police arrive and sort it out he goes to hospital gets his stitches thinks nothing more of it. Two weeks later he is arrested and charged with two counts of GBH and wounding with intent. He then ends up in court and gets convicted. The first guy he hit he broke his nose and fractured his cheekbone and he was concussed. The other fella got his jaw fractured for his troubles. The judge did not care nor did the police about the fact that he was going to the aid of another, or that he needed 16 stitches from a bottling, all they could focus on was that as a martial arts expert that made his hands an offensive weapon and as such no different than if he had hit them with a hammer.

Jump in and come to your aid F*ck you pal that’s what your paid for. And where do I place the old bill in my estimation after that lower than a snakes bollox.

I can see how the Impreza would be a popular car with bank robbers. A well driven one could get away from pretty much anything.

That certainly does explain the lengths criminals are currently going to in order to get their hands on them. :-(

I think generally the police do a good job and I respect any I've met, but you can't take away the feeling of some people and I can understand why.

I pay my all taxes, all our cars are insured, registered, I genuinely don't mind part of my Council Tax going to the Met. I practice being secure and safe at home and out.

But I have been burgled (sorry sir, if we had turned up 2 days earlier we may have gotten finger prints from that), been driven into and the scrot drove off without stop (sir, stop following and the police will track down the registration number - yeah right) and had a car broken into (nothing stolen, just a busted lock).

My opinion is they can't help me. I'm a law abiding citizen and I even get worried if I replace the car tax on the 1st of the month (rather than getting it sorted in time). But still I find myself paying out for scrots and barstewards and having my licence endorsed for driving on a clear road with good visibility, no pedestrians and no traffic. So you have to wonder what service do they offer me?

I have actually stopped reporting crimes, I don't think for certain situations that there will be an outcome to something I report, so the only thing that will happen is, it will be another statistic that puts up my insurance.

Police's fault? Government's fault? I don't know, but I know it's not my job, it's someone elses that I pay (through my taxes) to do. And I know of specific examples where they have failed to do that job.

Sorry i was a bit busy WORKING!!!
It should be pointed out that with idiots like you guys, we don't even have to go as far as "out thinking" you, we just go overly polite as we go through the motions and let you do all the talking, let you get yourselves into bother. I can say i've never had to get angry or swear at anyone on the street, why bother??
You forget that whilst this may be a once in a blue moon event for you, i deal with tossers every day, i know how to handle them....it's what i get paid for

I should also add that i'm 26, and if you took all the 20 somethings out of my station there would be just 5 people left to cover all 5 shifts.....but then you don't want our help do you Mr Lewis, so i guess that'll suit you fine.

Man i love this site, anyone else want to out think me

Could I ask you read the rest of my post, and maybe deduce who the comment above was directed at? I'll give you a clue, it was the ageing wind-up merchant who I'd explicitly quoted. Nothing beats a full and thorough investigation of all the facts, hey?

Based on your post above, whilst you may "know how to handle tossers", you don't appear to have managed to "go overly polite". If you take the same "insult now, check the facts" later attitude in real life, I'd not be surprised if you do lose the respect of the public you deal with.

I'll re-iterate what I said earlier, I suggest some police are good people and some less so - the same as any other group/profession etc. I don't have an issue with the police in general. I do have an issue with people in general who quote me out of context and then insult everyone based on that.

A word of caution to all Forrester owners!!! Think about it, Turbo, scoob engine, fast AND a larger carry space!? Guess what we're seeing getting taken now?

Same applies, get it Trackered up, get anti-hijac and a decent alarm, think smart when out and about, lock doors when in it etc. etc. etc.

If this is too much for you, sell it!

Have to say i have only realy ever had a few run ins with the law, have to confess last sat i was comming back from the clinic (hey guys up there) and was cruising along at 90mph all the way, light traffic and was giving plenty of room to pass cars, using indicators and not swerving around.
what did i look up and see aproaching behind me, t5, doh, heart sarts going, crap are they gonna pull me over, didn't think it was worth slowing since it migth be considered dangerous slamming anchors on to slow down, so i just stayed steady at speed i was doing and just did what i was doing, gave plenty of room for other cars, indicated etc etc, t5 pulls along side hovers for about 5 seconds looks at me i look at him, and he carries on his merry way, what can i say a case of police using discretion and thakyou very much MR police man bit of common sence.

another time was when i crashed my car in mege fassion (sure most of you have seen the pics) couldn't fault the way they handeled it, made sure i was ok easy with the question, usual breath test for accidents and a 5 min lecture on how to expect the unexpected (can't say i wasn't listening either after what had just happened). Didn't bother with anything other than a producer anf can't fault hem for checking that either 5 min job at local police station.

all in all never had problems with police myself and always found them to be attentive and if approached the correct way no problem at all and willing thave a chat, perhaps i've just found good cops.

I watch these programs on tv and wonder y people argue cos it only make things worse.

Quick Reply: Police's opinion!! God help me with this one!
