I dont think that you will find that the wax wizard sells SWISSOL anymore
Swissol isnt hard work at all the cleaner fluid stage takes a little while but is only done every 6 months !!!!

PLEASE DO NOT USE AN ORBITAL POLISHER ! With Swissol you wont need to anyway is a dust on dust off procedure !

I think there is alot of confusion here with people and waxes...they apply it to a matted/contaminated paint surface without using any polish or cutting compound / restorer ....the wax in effect puts the shine on top. The car will look the dogs, but it won't shine like it should, it won't last, and it seals in all the imperfections and surface contaminents...so when somebody does finally gets to cleaning the car properly it's a nightmare!

Secondly people don't note the difference between Wax and Polish

Autoglym Super resin polish (red logo) is polish NOT WAX! It's what you use to remove light contamination/fall out, and very light buffing scratches (from washing etc). This does offer some surface protection, but it's not wax and will last 2 weeks max when left in the elements outdoors 24/7.

Autoglym Extra Gloss protection (gold label) is what you should be comparing to wax. It also has no dust!

And finally, wax be it swissol, meguires or autoglym protection it's all useless and a waste of money if you don't spend the extra time and elbow grease in preparing bodywork correctly.

Before you apply any wax or protection the paintwork should be like glass to touch and look at. If it feels rough...you need to polish it again (or clay bar). Also layers of old built up wax need to be removed.

For heavy matted surfaces with wax build up. I first use a commercial tar remover (removes both tar, old wax and fall out) then 3M fine cutting compound (like T-cut...but less aggressive and far far easier to work with), afterwhich bad areas may need repeating, then the polish. If the shine and feel isn't quite right, then it's needs another polish. Only after you've done all that can you apply any wax.

To which after all that, once applied, most brands get the exact same results in terms of shine. Although some last longer than others. Usually the carnuba based waxes last the longer.

I've been meaning to put this on a waxing/cleaning thread for ages!

Welcome to the wonderful world of forums... where we all get to express our opinions. Personally, I think it's madness that people can be encouraged to spend that kind of money on cleaning products. They may well be 10 times more expensive than others on the market but the end result won't be 10 times better I'm sure.

This is my other Japanese family car (!) and the results shown are the fruits of some good elbow grease and sticking with a good few tried and tested products... all of which can be sought easily from the high street. Heck, even my new Scooby scrubs up alright and I didn't even polish it.

http://www.sopertek.co.uk/scooby/pics/001-05.jpg

I won't claim to be a car valet guru and I haven't tested every single product ever made, but I can achieve superb results without re-mortgaging the house.

Couple of point to qualify from the last few posts

Please remember that the cost does not only have an impact on quality of shine but also on value for money & ease of use too !

I gaurantee that the Swissol pack will last a lot longer than other products
I would say that following the instructions the kit will last approx 2 years with the exception of the car bath (but then that depends on how often youwash the car) So with a £110 kit the cost is £1.06 per week approx !

How many people are prapered to pay £5-£6 to have their car cleaned with a gritting sponge in a car park with no wax applied afterwards !

Also the ease of use is important too ! No sweating with Swissol ! YES the cleaner fluid stage takes a while but then you only do it twice a year ! The rest of the process takes minutes & The washing is quicker than it would be if you hadnt swissoled it !

I do agree preparation is the most important thing ! Clay bar & the Cleaner fluid are crucial ! The car should gleam after those stages before the wax is applied !

The quality of wax does have a huge impact on the logevity of shine & the quality of shine !
With light colours such as Silver, light refraction means that you cant see much different in shine between a wax which is high inCarnauba content & one of lower content but this isnt the case the darker the car is !

Also the quality waxes will last much longer !

Ask Rolls Royce what they think of the Swissol Cleaner Fluid ! They loved it ! And it got them out of a whole with BMW ! So much so that they now give Swissol products away with every new Phantom sold !

I agree about the Swissol thing,...
Ordered a Master collection last year and the only bottle that needed a "refill" was the Car Bath shampoo...

BTW, there is no compairason between Swissol and supermarket brands.
Alone for the smell and looks of Swissol you're buying the stuff !

Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax then #16 Professional Paste Wax.

Autoglym Super Resin Polish also works very well.

Ali-B, I agree with with everything you said except about Super Resin Polish durability, I get an easy 2-3 months with a car parked outside 24/7. And weather can't be that different in Dudley from where I live

Depends how close you live to Clancy's This time of year..2 weeks max before any surface roughness (run you finger across it after washing) is noticeable. Summer will usually give over month of durabilty.

Try rubbing it in properly I'm happy with AutoGlym for the mo, will give the clay bar a go though, as I've got some bloomin' stuborn spots to get off around the wheel arches. Ironically, you only notice them when you've given the car a good clean and polish!!

BTW Your car looks stunning mate!!

I used autoglym for years and thought it was ok.

i have now used swissol zymol and a few of the meguairs odd bits.

Swill concourso was amazing ( swiped some of a mates) and to be honest i didnt notice much diffefence when i used my own onyx both very good.

Zymol smells nice but was not as good as the swissol.

Ive been trying the new meguairs nxt stuff and so far i have been very impressed. i havent washed the car again since but I was mega impressed by the initial gloss, just have to wait to see if it lasts.

Hmmm, £68 Vs £7.49 for a 1/20 difference. So the real life winner would be Autoglym then.

Yeah, but the employees of Max Power were probably drinking the stuff rather than using it on the cars...maybe Swissol gets you drunk far quicker, thus better value per container!!

I have to agree.... the wax smells awesome... never mind the car... just gonna sit and sniff the samurai wax!!!!......... is wax sniffing as bad as glue sniffing

Now all I need is a nice warm sunny day so i can get out there and give her the attention she needs!!!

My swissol goodies just arrived today. I can agree about the smell of the wax. I'd taste it if it wasn't the most expensive substance known to man.

Sunday looks like a clear day. Should I be setting aside 4 or 5 hours?

3-4 hours will be fine depending on what you brought !

approx 3 hours for a wash cleanse & wax
a little longer if you clay bar too

But half an hour of that it while the wax is on the car !

A question for those using the Swissol products. What car shampoo do you use? Tried the Swissol shampoo, and was not too impressed. Autoglym shampoo is great at cleaning a really dirty car, but am aware that it might well be cleaning the wax off with it as well (not pH neutral I guess....?).

Cheers!
