M3 OR WR1

I'd be quicker in a WR1........simply because compared to alot of people I'm a crap driver.
RWD requires far more skill - and the M3 is no exception.
I suggest the thread starter "adjust" his driving style accordingly - you can't drive around like you used to in your Nova GTE in proper cars.

Pesonally I think the M3 and CSL are gorgeous looking cars. That sure isnt something which can be said about scoobs. They are good because people know what they are and what they do. If the scoob was actually a Kia then everyone would laff at it.
Ive seen enough BMW's on track to know they are a damned good car. When my scoob is understeering for england they are turning in and powering away.

As most people have said,he needs to learn to drive a RWD car. I've given a M3 SMG a major test drive and thought it was great. I've got a 350 BHP C32 AMG and thats more slippery than the M3 but I've never lost the rear of that.
You just have to adjust your driving style. If yoy want a point and shoot car then it has to be a Scoob or Evo everytime

Simple fact of the matter is that you have to give a lot of respect to a powerful rwd car.
I've owned 2.5 ltr bmw's for the last 5 years( i know its not as powerful as an m3 - god i wish!) and they can be a whole lot of fun but an utter nightmare in the wet.

But more grip when I need it and less dosh and less like an estate agent!!
Now more like a queer hair dresser!!
M3 was pretty good at a wet Bedford Autodrome

I have the pleasure of driving loads of these superb machines, they are almost imposible to loose without all the tricky dsc switched off, you probably wouldn't have got it to 8000rpm with the yellow lights on in the rev counter, this is a rev limiter indication that goes out when all the desired temperatures etc are met. The dsc light flashes when it is being activated, was it a manual or smg gearbox? smg can be very jerky if you are harsh with the throttle.
M3 is an awsome car but I prefer the running costs of my wrx.

I sold my (then new) M3 about a year ago and miss it like hell. It isn't a deathtrap - It is what it is, a 350 bhp, rear-wheel drive car. Obviously it is a totally different car to drive than an Impreza or an Evo and you have to treat it as such or it can bite you on the ****.
They are far more forgiving imo than the M3, but give me the choice and I would go for the brute power of the M3 everytime.......

Back to your original question! And having been in both as a passenger and raced against both (private airfield of course) I would say the WR1 is definately faster and handles a little better, but I'd go for the pure design quality and ride of the M3. Love my STI and the 4.5secs 0-60, but would love the BMW. Why not go for the M5? They keep up with me at lower speeds, then fly away at higher speeds!

Sorry but no the WR1 isnt faster ....well it isnt faster than the CSL for sure and I dont think there is much difference between the M3 and the CSL?? .....
The CSL will pull away from my scoob even when im right in its slip stream
and before you ask 329bhp so more than a WR1
Gary
Not that any of this is related to the thread in which Thomo discussed it being a death trap PMSL

I'll actually make a few quid on the Hymer as opposed to the M3. (Nurburgring lap times are slightly slower, though)
