I was too traumatised to have missed Green Day to comment any further. I actually don't mind them too much to be honest, but they are definitely not good enough for the acolades they have received tonight.

This has to be the most ****e Brits since Samantha Fox and Mick Fleetwood f*cked it up the ****. I was looking forward to seeing Chris Evans present it but he sucked completely, how much better would Jonathan Ross have been? The award-presenters were wooden and inept and most of the performing bands could barely perform; and wtf were 'The Beddingfields' doing? Auditioning for Butlins ffs?

I can't believe that Green Day could barely perform.

for me, china girl/david bowie (with a killer video) with probably new england/kirsty mccoll and either the voice/the thin wall from ultravox or the model/kraftwerk scrapping for the other podium places.

there's a cracking double compilation CD called "alternative eighties" (sony music STVCD141) worth a look - who remembers i'm in love with a german film star/the passions? or living on the ceiling/blancmange for that matter. 22+ years ago ... jeez.

Oh yeah, Blancmange. They did 'Don't tell me' too didn't they? Or is my memory befuddled (spelling?).

Some great tunes been suggested here by the way.

Some great songs mentioned.

For me the unlimate 80's song was 'The Message' by Grandmaster Flash

Still listen to it once in a while... sheesh I feel so old.

Its already been mentioned but Paul Hardcastle '19' is probably a strong 80's nostalga thing, mind you it did seem like it was no1 for most of the 80's !

And nobody has mentioned Star Trecking by The Firm yet..... Hmm time to get my coat I think
