Think you did Simon, just re-read my post and it reads like I meant all the tracks I mentioned, was only meant to refer to Land down under.

Ooh, Dire Straights- money for nothing or anything from Brothers in Arms

God I was still a miserable wee ****** even at that age!

This weekend i bought the triple CD "Real Eighties". Some fantastic tunes on there, many of which have been mentioned within this thread. One song that hasn't been mentioned though, and one that i consistently find myself turning up whenever it's on, is "Duel" by Propaganda. Goodness knows who they were or whether they did anything else, but this song is sublime.

Others i'd add;

"Christian" by China Crisis (again very late 70's but epitomises early 80's for me)
"Boys of Summer" by Bryan Adams
"The Model" by Kraftwerk
"Smalltown Boy" by Bronski Beat

And many, many others. They don't make 'em like they used to...

Was "boys of summer" not by Don Henley (or DJ Sammy)?

Must go look for "Real eighties" CD.

Christ, you're right! Run To You by Bryan Adams, Boys of Summer by Don Henley. Both top 80's tunes, and in the charts together at one point. Sadly, i still have many of the Top 40 countdowns from that era. RIP Mr Vance...

Default REO Speedwagon - Take It On The Run

Take It On the Run - REO Speedwagon

Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from another you been messin' around

They say you got a boyfriend
You're out late every weekend
They're talkin' about you and it's bringin' me down

But I know the neighborhood
And talk is cheap when the story is good
And the tales grow taller on down the line

But I'm telling you, babe
That I don't think it's true, babe
And even if it is keep this in mind

CHORUS:
You take it on the run baby
If that's the way you want it baby
Then I don't want you around
I don't believe it
Not for a minute
You're under the gun so you take it on the run

You're thinking up your white lies
You're putting on your bedroom eyes
You say you're coming home but you won't say when

But I can feel it coming
If you leave tonight keep running
And you need never look back again

CHORUS

Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from another you been messin' around

Sheer Class!!

1981?

Big Country - In A Big Country ...... class too!

coitus interruptus - Fad Gadjet R.I.P
I saw them a couple of years ago when they supported D.Mode on the Violator tour.

Should be a new Mode album out late this year

"Reward" by Teardrop Explodes, takes me right back to 1st year at the BIG school and music class for some reason, also Tempole Tudor and "TuRa TuRa TuRa Yeh,Over the hills with the swords of a thousand men"
Anything early by U2 and Simple Minds and The Cult as it reminds me of asking out a gorgeous blonde out at a party back in 85, and that blonde is now my wife
Hey, them were the days..........
