Would rather have lined a locksmith's pocket than a legalised thiefs!

But that means the credit card company pays. While I have no love for them, I would prefer that the clampers were the ones that lost out :-)

My sister in Law parked outside a shop and poped in for some shopping...

Parked up at 9:30am, got a ticket at 9:35am, clamped at 9:40am, and the tow truck arrived at 9:45am....

She came out hufed and puffed at them and they let it all go...

You can remove clamp by any method which does not damage it of course, they are often easy to remove, take some none digital pre removal, during removal and post removal, digital photos are not admissible in court as evidence for obvious reasons. you cannot remove police or local authority clamps, private clamping companies are ok and fair game as i am concerned.

So as not to be done for theft (the misappropriation of property with the intent of depriving the owner of it's permanent custody) return it to the clamping company within a reasonable period of time, overnight usually. the onus is on the clamping company to prove any criminal damage was caused, they wont be arsed. Wrap it in bubble wrap, smile as you return it and bid them good day. They cannot charge you for the offence usually, only the clamp removal which you did yourself. worked for me!

Just a thought, but always carry a padlock and chain in your boot. That way, if you get clamped but manage to remove it undamaged you can secure said clamp onto a fixed railing or metal drain cover. You will also need a (very) sticky label to affix to the clamp saying:

"This clamp had been immobilised due to improper, unfair or plain selfish enforcement - it will only be released after payment of a fee of one hundred pounds (cash, no cheques or credit cards)!"

If the ******* cut the chain then do 'em for criminal damage!!!!

If the clampers can't see you removing the clamp then surely they have to prove you damaged it?
