There's no concise cut off point here. I'm not saying that I'm counting down the minutes from one to twenty but after a while it can get a bit boring when you really want to move on to the main event.

My point is that in the past, probably up to the '70s it was only the bloke's needs that counted in the rooting stakes, which was clearly wrong and biased but now it seems to have moved too far in the other direction with women becoming transfixed by *their orgasm* and that men have to do their utmost to support those ambitions. I think that there is an area in the middle where both sexes can get equal satisfaction from it without one becoming the slave to the other.

I appreciate your concern for your partner's satisfaction but if it's going to take her three hours to reach orgasm, then I for one am not going to spend that amount of time on it and whilst this is an extreme example perhaps these women who have problems in that area need to learn to speed things up a bit.

Heres one that really bugs me. My Partner had an awesome figure when we first met. She'd regularly induldge in a bit of self satisfaction which was and is fine with me. However post-daughter (now 3 years old) she is unhappy with the way she looks as she never lost the weight after our daughter. Never really bothered me and I've never mentioned it to her because I know how conscious she is of herself.

Point being since she has lost interest in her body, I by default must do the same and she now sees it as disgusting.

If you've never mentioned anything to her, maybe she doesn't think you care? I know a lot of women in the same situation and they've convinced themselves that their men find them unattractive simply because the men have never said anything different. I can't speak for your wife obviously, but what a number of my friends in a similar situation really want is to be treated like your girlfriend again occasionally. They get fed up of being known as "Mum", "Jemma's Mum" or "Bobs Wife" etc. Many of them gave up work and feel they don't have an identity of their own any more.

They don't like their bodies, but don't see the point in doing anything about it because they don't think anyone will notice. As soon as they realise that you still fancy them then things have usually improved.

You mention she had an awesome body before the child, but hasn't lost the weight since having the baby. I would have thought she's noticed this as well. She enjoyed self-indulgence, but doesn't do it now, as she's not happy with her body. It's a physiological thing here mate that you need to encourage her to over-come. Once she has (irrespective of weight and size) your sex life will be back to normal

Men are in a rock between a hard place situation, but it's difficult to give advise that is general enough to suit all people in all situations. Read the thread again, reflect on what the women are saying, make her feel assured and above all, try to be honest about your feelings when discussing it with her, but not make it to focussed around you and your feelings. If she not listening at that moment, then park the conversation to the next appropiate moment!

Has any of the fathers on here had to look after the home / kids for any length of period? After my Ex had our third daughter, she had to stay in hospital for almost three weeks. I'd never really did anything around the house until then. All of a sudden, I was in the deep end struggling to stay afloat. Within a week, I think I had it under control, but never realised how exhausting looking after young children and running a home can be. When I did get back to work (as a technical consultant for a telecoms firm, and the job was very high pressure) I was glad of the rest.

On a serious not we have a great time in the sack but we also have a different kind of relationship - she likes to talk and just hold each other sometimes and maybe not always sex - I agree with other posts women do need more than just sex, unlike men
