Oh, and if anyone wants to see how Jonh F and his Westie fared against the Cossikiller on our first trip to The Ring, they only have to watch the video.
"Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" I believe the saying goes.
Never really played together after that, but it would definitely have been more scary driving that little there for the first time.
It's worth mentioning that I actually only had two offs, and neither was at The Ring thankfully. The first at Donno was a case of having the door shut through Craner which was very scary, and the second at Castle Coombe after one too many slides which turned CK1 into a hatchback!
Not big, not clever, but much fun was had by all!

By the way Gary, i have done a total of about 50 laps now. My first EVER lap of The Ring was an 8.50, also on video.
If you've done 140 laps and are still only doing 8.33 then may i suggest you try flower arranging as an alternative pastime?!

God, we're all crawling out of the woodwork now! LOL

I was on that first trip and JF and I did the first lap in his Westie in the fog on a bl00dy cold morning, not really knowing where we were going! Great fun.

Nice to see that all the original crew is still alive and kicking! We'll have to have a reunion sometime. Can I suggest this place in Germany that I know................

Was it really in a Fellatio? If so, fair play. (YAWN)

Simo.
Yeah, i'm fine. Ignore anything you may have heard on here, it's all ollox.
People just move on. Will def come to an event soon and catch up.

Matt.
Yes, a reunion in Germany would certainly be interesting. I think i'll got the car hire route, but it won't be the same without CK1.......
Still, I'm sure there'll be a few members willing to donate their Scoob for a lap or two!

Well I was there on the second visit (Easter 2001) and I *think* it was Richard Askew with me tagging along who took Stef's video camera and recorded some of the outside shots but I could be wrong - for some reason I don't remember too much about that weekend I do remember that John took Rich out in the Westie and frightened him half to death with a brief excursion

That was a great weekend, one of the best

Having seen your videos, and heard from several people about your ***** out approach, theres no way you would drive my scoob

Managed a 10.50 on my 4th lap ever in the MG ZR TD at the weekend.

Steve,

That's not bad mate! Only 2 and a bit minutes slower than my 330d! To be honest, with some practice you'd knock over a minute off that time.

LOL, 330D will be my next purchase as the daily commuter i think.

We did get held up by the saftey car due to an accident on that particular lap, although the local Golf gti wasnt happy when a ZR diesel on brit plates when past on the outside of a corner

Ahhhhhhhh.........that bra brings back some memories of all the debates it caused. I still love it.
I do miss CK1, maybe i should reincarnate it?

Scoobychick.
How are you?
I remember you and Rich trekking to get those clips. The way he panned out just before I came over was awesome. How the hell he knew I was about to appear I'll never know. I've got to go again, no two ways about it.

Stef!

Well **** me sideways

I could never decide if you were mad or genius - perhaps both, depending on the moment. Still, those SIDC track days were ace, mate, and your Ring exploits legend for whatever reason.

I even let you take my daughter around Dono (now who's the mad one?) and she still remembers it well. "He went sideways everywhere" she still recalls, which obviously left an indellible impression

A Return to the Ring trip would be absolutely spiffing You still got that ponsey chrome lid?

See you,

Richard.

I think from memory it was Stef in CK1, Harj in Richard Askews 22B and me in my my99, we went to go for a drive and got seriously bogged down on the way out in deep mud (went to play just a little off road), someone has it on tape - us getting covered in muddy wheelspray trying to push the cars out. I lost the clip when my laptop was knicked sadly - Those where the days!

Richard Askew NEVER had a 22B to the best of my knowledge. You probably mean Richard Squires. Is he still with Chelle?

Chris, I only lent you the scanner because I never used it! Nothing's changed Keep it if you like, or donate it to another good home.

You gone digital yet? I think you have, yes? For me, the balance swung to digital with the Nikon D70 and Canon 350D. I'm loving my 350D

"Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" I believe the saying goes.
Never really played together after that, but it would definitely have been more scary driving that little there for the first time.
I didnt fancy dying, so drove as quickly as i could see the first trip. It wasnt scary, just very dificult to see the lines and learn such a demanding circuit when your sat 2" off the ground, doing your first trip in a normal road car is far more sensible and useful in terms of learning.

And we did play again at the 'ring. One abiding memory was when i nearly ran up your **** at Hohe Acht when you late braked being mr indesisive whilst passing some locals who were a bit off the pace. We did a lot of laps together, with us pre-aranging that we would wait for each other if we got held up, that particular lap i was miles ahead then waited for you at Ex-Mulhe then followed you to the finish. I sent you the video tapes on mini-DV of this visit taken by Joel from Microsoft in the USA that were being used for the X-Box game development, for you to use in CK@ the ring V2. It would be nice to have them back if you can dig them out as i have no decent footage of the westie there, but do have a copy of some of it on a poor VHS tape, including the lap i took 10 years of Rich Askews short life with a very close call with the barriers, the same lap i passed a rather trick looking 911 round the outside at Eiscurve with, unknown to me, Richard crapping himself and thinking he was going to die.

Ah the memories.

John, you were on the grass passing that 911, and Rich was breathing in to make sure there was enough room to miss the Armco
