Unhappy NOW i know what black ice is!!

Wurzel, you can shove your smart @rse comments where the sun don't shine mate

I just hit some of the sh!te myself about 30 mins ago. Temp outside is minus 1 and as I went around a gentle left hander (on what looked for all money to be nothing but wet road) at about 60kmh the car went into a sideways slide, took out a white post and slid down a 3 meter bank into a farmers field. I am so fooking thankful there was nothing hard to hit as I had absolutely NO control. As for winter tyres...... even the newest, best siliconised, soft compound tyres Pirelli can make for winter were lost for ideas here!

On the bright side, you should have seen the look on the farmers wifes face as I drove through her field in a foot of snow and past the kitchen window... she ran out asked if I was OK and then asked me if it was allradantreib (4WD)

Gonna finish off my bottle of rum to stop the shakes me thinks

Hey Scott, I hope you and the car are both ok!?

In fairness though, you should really mention that you live in the middle of the swiss alps and its been snowing heavily for the last two days! Also, without winter tyres, do you think you'd have even made it to the corner... or out of the field!

Enjoy your rum

The dangers of drink-towing clearly shown in this post .

Aberdeenshire this morning reports of dozens of cars coming off the roads because of black ice. The roads look wet - they are Icy and the average temp is approx 2 degrees. It looks like a wet morning - it is a wet morning - but the roads are like a skating rink !

All you Silicon boys would be "catching" the non-silicon boys as they slid towards you

Last year I had a BMW 525iSE Touring.

I was coming down a bypass approaching a roundabout and overtaking a transit van. I wasn't even doing over 60mph approaching the roundabout and with it being such a big car probably had scrubbed off enough speed to 20-30mph. as I turned and went around the roundabout to go straight on the back end just went. I managed to turn into it and carry on and how I missed slapping the transit I don't know. I had driven the same way everytime across that roundabout and it had been fine previously.

I felt pretty smug afterwards that I had managed to catch it and get round the roundabout Proper caked my kegs though
