Wow a whole 31 pages of complete bollox. Who cares.
I own a 2002 Bug Wrx. And initially it was WOW, but now after 2 1/2 years of ownership it feels normal/slow. This is not a case of the car being slow, but more of a case of it getting things done with no fuss, and my perception of speed changing, ie getting used to it.
Perception of speed has a lot to do with other things that are happening around you, ie. Outside noise from engine, tyres wind etc. Also high speed stabilty. A car thats very stable at 100mph will feel slower than a car thats bit iffy at 80mph.
The thing that worries me most about the car is it`s ability to get to and sit at motorway speeds on single carriage A roads and not feel like it`s actaully doing it. (and before anyone gets at me for saying that. How many HGV`s speed. As on a single carriage road their legal limit is 40mph.) But the car handles my needs perfectly, It`s respectably quick making overtaking safe and controlled, even with 2 kayaks on the roof. I can get 4 people inside comfortably, and I can get a fair amount of luggage in the back. The only problem with the Impreza WRX is International Motors.
My rant is now over

The problem with statements like that is general public awareness.... you see.... originally I was going to get an STi... a 'real' WRX in your book (PLEASE...PLEASE....PLEASE STi owners do not take offence here 'cos I really love em)... so to prime my beloved for the purchase... rather than drag her to a dealer ('cos she would probably switch off)... I waited and watched out until I saw one in a car park or even better driving past me and then pointed it out to my wifey... It was new and was in WRC blue with gold wheels (not necessarily a good point I know!) and we stood and watched and listened to it drive past us at about 10mph in B & Q carpark.... I said... there... that's it... that's what I'm ordering next week!.....
My lovely wife turned to me... looked lovingly into my eyes and said...
..

..
..
..

..
..
"W@NKER"
The moral of this tale... I bought a WRX because a) I love it and b) because my wife and 90% of the family which translates to about 70% of the population at large look at STis with the big wing and even bigger bonnet scoop and think t@sser...... so I'm quite happy with my compromise WRX because amongst other things people look at it and say 'nice car' instead of something less savoury....
Still want an STi though
