I'd have to disagree about 0-60 being meaningless (but then I am a WRX owner ); day to day most of the fun is had on low-ish speed acceleration (traffic these days prevents high speeds).
I'd say that 0-40 (or even 0-30) is pretty important, if we want to find out which car would be deemed quicker (traffic light GP).
Anyway, although I'm actively participating in all this, who really cares? I have a car faster than at least 90% of the other cars around me on any given day, but it's the smile I get driving it that counts.

But 90% is a little on the low side.... In reality you would probably find that at any given time on any given day your WRX is probably faster than 99% of the cars around you.... think about it.... on a drive... for every 100 cars you come close to (which ain't many, especially on a motorway) do you honestly see more than 1 Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, 'uber' Audi, M3, STi, Evo etc.. etc.. I would be surprised if the HONEST answer is yes (unless of course you live in or very near to London, Manchester Etc.. where pockets of 'fast' cars live) Because remember.... it's only the likes of the above type of vehicle that are actually quicker than an out of the box WRX!

Still cant get past the fact that most of these fwd hot hatches are on the power limit as standard, give them any more and it tends to really upsets the chassis, unless you start fitting launch control or traction control etc etc. WRX standard is just a starting point.
Mine is running 330+bhp and no hint of wheelspin or torquesteer.

Apparently the WRX isn't a quick car

oh yeah......thats it
The thread title is - why do you hate the WRX...well I don't, its a good car, and I enjoyed my year with it. However when trackdays became more frequent I realised that the fantastic 0-60 time meant jack ****.
3rd and 4th gear acceleration becomes important for track work - and by that time I realised the impreza just does not cut it for me anymore.

As a wise man said (earlier in the thread) It's a Scooby Enthusiast site... so if you ain't enthusiastic... take it somewhere else instead of dragging this site down!
Thank you and goodnight!

Many people are at a loss for a response when someone says, "You don't know Jack Schitt" Now you can handle the situation!
Jack was the only son of Awe Schitt and Owe Schitt. Awe Schitt, the fertiliser magnate, married Owe Schitt, the proprietor of Kneedeep N. Schitt Inc. In turn Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt, and the deeply religious couple had six children: Holie Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Giva Schitt, Bull Schitt and the twins Deap Schitt and Dip Schitt.
Against her parents will, Deap Schitt married Dumb Schitt, a high school drop-out. After being married for 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt divorced. Noe Schitt later married Mr. Sherlock and, because her children were still living with them she kept her previous name. She was then known as Noe Schitt-Sherlock.
Dip Schitt married Loada Schitt and they produced a nervous son, Chicken Schitt. Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt were inseparable throughout their childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony.
The local newspapers duly announced the Schitt-Happens weddings. The Schitt-Happens children were named Dawg, Byrd and Hoarse. Bull Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy with his new wife, Pisa Schitt. So now when someone says,"You don't know Jack Schitt", you can correct them because you know his whole family and life story!

But even us heroes drive WRX’s, we cant all be Rally GODS!

I really dont understand where you are coming from. You simply CANNOT subtract the 0-60mph time from 0-100mph to give you 60-100mph. How can you not understand this
Why must you keep blabbing your made up figures (the fact the someone else online has used the same dumb-*** formulae does not make it correct).
Have you been dropped like a bad habit at the lights by scoobs one too many times whilst trying to impress (without an impreza ) your girlfriend. Do you bore her with your made up formulae whilst waiting for 60mph before you can really start doing your stuff? Do you say to her "well by my (incorrect) calculations I would have beaten that car from the speed of 60mph to 100mph" then you go on to try and bait people for rolling starts (which simply doesnt happen).
You are one confused, blinkered chap.

OK BOB'S
But you have not given a reason why its not any good?
If a car is 2 sec slower to 60 that a WRX but is only .5 sec slower to 100 than a WRX....somewhere along the line it must be gaining on the Impreza......can't you at least try and understand that?

You can't really measure real world road performance from a set of figures. Having said that if you want to the only metric that I have seen that comes close is 0 - 100 - 0.
If you can do it less then 20secs you have what the majority of people would say is a fast car. If you can't you haven't.
Do the sums and find a <20sec which looks out of place. BTW some scoobies don't make the grade it's tougher then you think.

The thing I hate about my WRX is ......
that I cannot bear to be without it. When the wife borrows it and leaves me her Celica (usually because she's used all of the petrol up and can't be *rsed going to fill it up).
If I need to use her car, then when I have driven it for no more than 0.02 of a second I realise just how good the Impreza is.
If you are bored with your WRX then drive another 'normal' car for a day and then you might just remember why you bought a Scooby in the first place.
I know that mine is an old classic (MY96 WRX JDM Wagon) but it is a superb piece of machinery that fulfills all that I need in a car.
I have just returned from a trip to Scotland and did 905 miles in 3 days, I can safely say that my car is the safest car that I have owned/driven by far in all weather conditions.
It has the power to overtake slower traffic safely, it has excellent handling/grip and superb driveability.
I don't care for quoted 0-60, 0-100, or others, all I know that since I bought it in August, I have not been beaten by anything that has tried against me (including other Scoobies), I know I have not yet met with potential Scooby slayers but I don't see the need for me to buy bolt-on bits for extra power when I am satisfied with what I've got. If others want to do that, then that is each owners choice.
Long live the WRX
P.S. mine is an automatic...don't knock 'em till you've tried 'em.
