that was the best thing about that car, prior to getting the VTS engine in I had a full GTi-6 brake setup, sorted suspension etc but only the little 1.4 75bhp lump, I got my *** whooped by the local Zetec S boys and a couple of Escort GTi's
when the new lump went in I left all the 1.4/Quiksilver badging on and oh the fun I had handing out the whoppa55!!
Had 2 scooby's since, a Civic Type R, a Mk4 and currently a Mk5 GT TDi - also put my name down for an STi8 which I'm picking up mid March... Moved down here about 2 years ago, running my own business and spending too little time tinkering with cars
are you still down by the Mabery?

I have said this before but no one seams to listen.
106 GTi has different dampers, seats and tyres than the saxo VTS.
The handling of the 106 on a bumpy country road is better as the dampers are a better match for the spring ratings. They are peugeot sport items - you try replacing them, it will set you back an awful lot!
The seats in the 106 are mounted slightly lower and are more supportive. You feel that you are sitting in them as appose to the saxo where you sit on them.
The 106 came supplied with pirellis which frankly do not work in any condition - especially not wet. Whereas the saxo comes with Michelin Pilots that are ok/ish!
Fit them with the same tyre - Yokahama A539's and the peugeot is the better car.
I have owned both cars in the past so feel qualifyied to state this.
It would seam many of you just make a guess at this debate when really you have experiance of only one of the cars, if that.
Read and learn!!

I used to have a 106 and my bruv a Vts both drove the lanes near me and he couldn't keep up as much as I thought he would.
He was the better driver but the 106 obviously was the better car!!!!!!
The VTS was stock but my 106 had 17" alloys and Yokahama A539's

I can't believe this thread is degenerating into a 106 is better than a VTS argument. They are virtually the same car and the subtle difference do not add up to much. Handling on my vts with michy pilot sports was fine. Would have spanked my MY99 scooby through the bends on certain kinds of roads.
This is like Ben & Jerrys vs Haggen Daaz
