Les
Les - if the economy continues to grow steadily at such a comfortable rate it will never be a problem. The fantastically low level of interest rates and absence of boom-bust cycles should ensure this. The US economy is based on this growth premise too. Note that the UK current account deficit is under a tenth of the US's. Not what I would call cause for concern then.
Its interesting(to me anyway) that the Labour Party as a whole is viewed on here as just TB. I don't remember John Major being so unpopular as a leader but I do remember Margaret Thatcher being the favorite point of attack against the Tory's when they were in power. Interesting.....Since I'm no longer in the UK I'm not qualified to really comment on the daily impact of living under the TB regime but its definately the leader who appears to get the brunt of the 'punters' on here. I don't suspect though that a board like this is reflective of the common man/woman on the street across the UK.
With 67 new taxes for middle Britain, and the highest tax per household no wonder ...............
Plus just heard there are 600,000 new civil servants since 1999, whew!
Pensions for them run into Billions and Labour cant pay, what a surprise.....
in brief.....hows the country supposed to have any money if theyres lower tax. and it would b the same for whoever was in power, so no point worryin about it
