That would be more proactive than telling people to hide their keys, hiding things is fine for the oppotunist but the people that break in to a house for car keys are not oppotunists, they have planned it and are probably willing to stop at nothing to achieve their objective. Also as I have said before on here, all these have a go heros boasting 18 stone and going to give the baddies a pasting are all going to be lying down asleep tucked up in bed when said baddy is wide awake fully dressed and standing up looking down at you snoring your little head off, so refresh my memory as to who has the upperhand here??? as someone else said a dog or a burgalar alarm is the only way the home owner might have a remote chance of retaliating when confronted. I do not blame th epolice in the slightest for not catching them or even showing interest in persuing them, there is no punishment for the crime so there is no incentive for the crims to think twice about their actions is there, The CPS in the UK need their ******* heads examined. correct punishment for the crime would soon deter most crims from reoffending.

Thanks Ian!
Lets all run around screaming, big boys are coming to get us all!!! Don't personally know anyone earning 10k a night ripping cars, you know how much a scoob would go for on black market? They aint interested in spec, they want to get 500 yards in front of marked vehicles to give themselves time to bail!!! I have talked to lads who have got £1000 tops for a new scoob and were over the moon with it!
YES ther are gangs out there specialising in taking cars but these people are 'professional' and the last thing they want is confrontation, they'd much rather scan your key fob, match it and do it quietly to give them time to remove trackers etc. The cars nicked in violent burglaries are nearly always used very soon after for high value raids elsewhere as getaway cars.
Mines a personal opinion as to what i hope i would do in the event of this type of incident occuring at my house, others may feel differently and thats cool.
As for not caring about catching said villains I cant comment for the whole force but every officer i've ever worked with wants nothing more than to go toe to toe with these idiots and take them down, again personal opinion. No doubt i'll get the usual ' i was going 50 in a a 40 and got stopped, have they nothing better to do?' brigade on my back.
I'll stop banging my head against this brick wall and just say this to you, I can promise you that if anyone has problems in Manchester and I turn up, they will get 100% all the way cus thats what I and all my colleagues aim for, every time!

Hold on a minute!!
I am one of those on SN who get really pissed off with the everlasting threads saying 'WATCH OUT - BADDIES ABOUT!!'
I don't think it helps anyone at all .... and worries some so much they sell their cars![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
BUT, when the Playstation Fighters come on and say how they'll sort out the bullies when they come knocking .... I just laugh - as you say, a 15 year old isn't about to take on an owner ....................... its the hard men that bust your door down!!
All I am saying is, if your door is ripped off its hinges by a gang and they want your car - then, smile and hand over the keys!!!! STAND BACK FROM THE BASEBALL BAT!!!

My security arrangements are in good order... it would need quite a few of them to get my car, and it would be over my dead body. Thieves need to understand that people will protect their property, otherwise you are setting a precedent on a public BBS that all you need to do to nick pslewis's car is to boot his front door in!

The reason i put this thread out WASN'T to scare scooby owners bad men were coming for your car no matter what, it was to high light that to many cars are stolen from keys being left in stupid places.
Every payout for a stolen car puts up the premium on mine and all of the other high powered vehicles on the road, we pay enough to drive nice fast cars, lets help ourselfs and look after our property.
Cheers.
