Paul Anderson was a powerlifter though, Reg Park was a bodybuilder.

Excuse the ignorance, how do you guys do your squats then?

I agree smith machine is crap, just doesn't feel right when doing the excercise.

The sitting down squat machine (sorry don't know the technical names ) is o.k. but doesn't carry enough wait in my gym so I can do the entire stack quite comfortably.

Is there another machine you use? Assume that you don't put 200 odd kg on a bar hoist it over your head and start squating

Cheers

Chris

Power cage or squat stands.........

I use power cage, where you set the pins to the bottom of the squat incase you fail

I would do but-

(a) Paid membership up until Oct 05
(b) It's really convenient - 2 minute walk from work. No decent gyms near my home and by the time I get home I can't be arsed to go out - whereas I don't seem to have any problem with slipping out of work for an hour or so

Looks like I'll have to put up with having the upper body of an adonis and the legs of pee wee herman

old school... do old school hack squats. thats NOT the lame-*** hack squat machine you see in most gyms... its a deadlift with the bar behind the legs.

it is for me, i can hit rock bottom and power up no probs but if i try to stop at parallel i get it all on the knees,
they threw away a great vertical leg press in my gym because not many people used it, they got a horizontal one instead with a weight stack rather than the ones where you put plates on, what a piece of $*1t, we've got a few panatta machines like that where they don't seem to hit the muscle,

have you collected you money yet Si?
