Now if you want real power from a 2ltr...... 200+lbs at 2000rpm, 331lbs at 3500rpm

Tis a pity that at 2000rpm I only have 250+ and at 3500 a meagre 365

Dunno on the 535d v the M5, would be close I reckon
Just looked at the stats for the 535d and it is a bit of a beast 273bhp and 560nm of torque New M5 looks even more scarey, 507bhp and 520nM of torque :feckmesmiley:
Shame they are so lardy at 1735 and 1830kg respectively

yes but everyone knows that tractors run on red diesel which is poo compared to the more expensive stuff
I will however have the best of both worlds soon... just ordered a new UK spec STi and am giving the 03 Golf GT TDi (130bhp) to the wife
Think I may be pinching the diesel back on the long haul journeys to save on the fuel (then again)

Moderators rely on your faith, for without faith, what are we?
FWIW my money would be on the M5, but I'd be willing to place money that there'd be some instances when the M5 was nervous. Not many, granted
What with this thread, and the Civic Type R thread, I think scoobynet is covering the power vs torque argument quite conclusively.
There is no right answer . But anyone who hasn't driven a performance diesel really should go and try one - I was truly stunned, and as a result the scoob has gone. I'm afraid I don't count the new golf 2.0 TDI as a performance diesel... The old 1.9 seemed better to me?

Well it's looking like we're not going to see this cooking (sorry roasting) video, perhaps it was only a simmering after all
Makes you think about some of these claims doesn't it.

The last time we met you were driving an Impreza, how come Mr dba is saying you have an awesome car, when he started off suggesting that an Sti was nothing to right home about.

I actually agree with you.
