I've had PAS and Non-PAS now, and although the PAS is good it does take a little away from the handling experience for me - it also weighs a bit as well.
Desperate to get mine finished now, but never have the time
Finally made a list of all the things I need to buy now to get it rebuilt, better start saving a bit more

Bit like the sunroof/non sunroof debate, my old car was a non sunroof and I'm buggered if I can tell any difference - though I do have a front strut brace in the new one and didn't in the old - maybe that counteracts the sunroof equation!
I bet you can't wait to get it rebuilt - bummer that more saving is needed, still, will be a stonker when she's back on the road!

Not wanting to feed the trolls, I bloody loved the CRX at that time, one of the most gorgeous little coupés ever IMHO. Look for the Suzuki SC100GX for an even smaller version! The vertical glass in the tailgate to aid reversing was a design genius, keeping shape and practicality together; only Mazda and now Citroen have caught on since. I drove an ultra-high mile (127k) Mk1 and the guy could have clocked it back to 50k and I wouldn't have known.
ISTR MkIIs were out of my price range, and every mag at the time raved about the 205, hence my final choice - if the experts agree, who am I to argue? Always wondered why you never heard about the CRX in the mags, when they were up with Astras, GTTurbos etc in the performance figures. They weren't even criticized (boring, bad handling etc), just simply ignored - silence. Never understood that. Did Honda **** off the motoring journo clique at the time, somehow?

Good review Brendan, and your not trolling or nor am I. The 205 gti is a great car, but I just feel the CRX, and the 16v version even less so, never got any of the press it did/does deserve. Still, consumers loss and helped prices fall in the long run. Plus I think they were well over priced when new, ranging from £12k ish to £17k ish! for a hatch back in those days!
If only i still had mine (sold it last week) its fiat brava time!

A couple of years ago when my nephew was 20 he tried to get a 1.6 205 GTI but he couldn't get insured. Everybody wanted 3yrs no claims he only had two. He bought one of them quicksilver thingys instead. Nice car if slow, reminds me of my 106 GTI i used to have. I'd reccomend one to you.

I was 19 with no ncd and i paid £1250tpf+t on one.
This is with a decent postcode, clean licence, 2 years experience.
With Chris Knotts. They practically guarantee they will be cheapest for you. I rang them and they quoted something like £1600 and after a quick discussion they knocked almost £400 off. Cant argue with that can you?
My renewal will be about £900 i reckon.

Just got my old lass back from being mapped up after its winter retreat at the engine builders.
Cracking stuff. CatCam 279 (similar to PTS Group A cam), new pistons, valves, increased CR.
Hopefully should be more competative this year. There's life left in the old lass yet !

WATCHED THE VIDEO, superb.......
It was interesting to watch the lines of the scoob throughout the video. The full width of the course was not being used the braking points were not being braked in & the turn in points were not being utilised.
As I pointed out to a number of people when red mist set in, it is easy to get involved in "racing" someone though when this happens all the turn in, braking points are missed & they reduce in speed.
Quite clearly from this video it is not about aggresiion, more about control. It does seem the pug lines are far better.....
I loved this video & it would help anyone whom had instruction & couldn't quite understand what it was all about

My lines always go out the window when the red mist comes down as you put it. I find it very difficult to concentrate on the track and lines and not simply on the car infront.
It always makes me respect proper race drivers even more.

Gary, on the whole the lines were quite good, except the long straight part the corner before could have been much tidier; though you are having fun, being safe & enjoying yourself & at the beginning of the day "you are not here to race "

Just bought a 205 1.9 TD for my 17 year old to learn to drive. Obviously way off GTi performance but still nippy enough and super economy. £400 for him as named driver and about £1200 if he were main user. L&V.

Its funny really because im being flamed in general about my lap with Gangsta smurf yet both he and I shook hands and talked about how much we enjoyed it etc.Its always the people were weren't there who think it could never happen. We know better though 205's rule
