Would I have a problem selling/buying with no feedback score?
Should I start with some low value stuff first to build up a reputation?

Some selling tips.
1.Presentation is everything,lots of good photo's and an honest description.Use real pics,not pics sourced off the net.
2.Answer emails politely and fully.
3.Dont forget to include postage charges.
4.Sell it in the right category.
5.Put on a reserve price but start the bidding very low.This way you should get lots of bids which looks like loads of people are interested,that always gives people confidence.

Píssy- You have to get a feel for the market you are selling in.
Setting a reserve in my market is pointless. Often items have 20-30 bids and always end up £200+ off the reserve ( I know how much people have paid from suppliers).
It's just wasting everybodys time at the end of the day. It might appear fun for the bidders but 99.9% of reserve priced auctions never reach the reserve price.
When you know a market then "Buy it now" is the way to go or a "no reserve" auction which can result in bidders paying more than the "buy it now" price stupidly enough.

The only market I have is the one that accomodates my stuff .... I have no target audience - I just notice people paying silly money for things secondhand that are cheaper BRAND new!!??

It is a sellers place yes,but it can also be a buyers place too.
To buy successfully you have to know your market though,and dont go for the laest fashion,wether that be hi-fi or whatever.
For example,i recently saw a Pioneer A400 amp go for £25,for a s/hand amp that is an absolute bargain,better than a lot of new ones today.

True, Paul - if you know the old stuff and whats good you can get a gift, BUT, that AMP could probably be had at the local Jumble Sale for 50p (I'm not joking either!)
