My scoob is great car to drive, it does seem that the second hand market has become a joke, blame the new car dealers for that with 0% APR on new cars and knocking even more off the prices at the drop of a hat, second hand cars will plumet in price even more I fear. Just run your scoob into the ground and enjoy whilst doing so, its still a great car and I'll enjoy mine for years to come!!

Dealers will always charge top whack for services, it's the only way they can make any money, I used to have a rover 214SLi it cost as much as the scoob to service ,if not more on occasion, and was not nearly as much fun to drive in fact it was boring and unreliable.

Thumbs down

So to save £500/year on servicing you were prepared to take a £4.5k depreciation hit Why not keep the car for another year? 60000 miles and another £2k depreciation would not be too bad. And now you have to drive a Punto

You also have to blame people who buy these cars and only use them at weekends for 5000 miles a year. There will always be a pristine low mileage example available

Alternative could be buy an £800 car, keep for a year and put 15k miles on it.
1 ) Dont service it (save yourself hassle of it being off the road)
sell it for about £400
the £400 loss = a full service (£200+ ) + £200 depreciation (which is livable)

or
2 ) buy the car at an auction ( same car for less than £800)
then apply 1 as above = even less depreciation

2) tacky interior

4) performance is over rated when considered in the "real world"
I don't think many would argue with points one to three, but saying that it is not that fast in the "real world" is a bit of a joke when you've come from a type R!!

I only use the car as a social weekend plaything, car has done 10k miles and is nealry 2 years old.

When I did use the car during the week "for some very good reason i cant remember" I hated it, for some of the reasons already mentioned.

Would I have another one, yes, would i use it as an everyday car and do 30k a year in it, err no.

You simply paid too much for it when you bought it, maybe you bought it from a dealer and then sold private??

Cars go down in value ....... unless you have a MINI or some such

The Impreza had rock solid residuals for years in the late 90's ..... no more!

You would have lost a lot more had you bought NEW!

These days I move over and the the repmobile behind me 'force' the issue, then swoop through with the rest of the 'train' behind me.

(Until I re-read the highway code recently I used to give an opportunity to move over, then calmly pass down the 'wrong' side. My word have they tightened up that particular set of definitions.)

Agreed, there's no justice. You're left trying to drive sensibly whilst seething about dangerous tw@ts.
