my old peugeot 205 Diesel van
acheived a whopping 110 in the A1/M
it took roughly 10 miles (no exageration!) to get from 100-110!
it was an awesome beast, had a reconditioned 1.9 berlingo engine (installed at 100k miles - the stop light on the peugeot dash literally means you have 5 minutes to stop! not good at 70 mph when that bugger comes on!) and the original gearbox (making some argumentative noises), the car had made it to 225,000 miles and is still to this day going strong! (4 years later)

142 mph indicated on Road Angel, in my Nova 2.0 16v
Still had a few hundred more revs to go, but the whole car felt like it was about to disintegrate at any moment - Needless to say, I didn't hold it there for long

115 four up in a 1972 Triumph 1500 (dolomite shape). Shoulda seen the look on my mates face as I cruised past his spanky new MR2 on the M23.
He had the last laugh tho, the fan belt shredded and the temp gauge hit red quicker than a cheetah with his *** on fire
Them were the days (sigh)

112mph in a Rover 213
Those were the days when you'd just passed your test, and car questions from mates were always like "what car have you got?" followed by "what have you had out of it!"

I once got to an indicated 135mph in a 1.8 Orion before i bottled it. It was still pulling like a train as well, although to be fair it the previous owner had played with it a bit

100mph in an f plate 1100 escort estate ('popular' of course), 5 up with 5 surfboards on the roof. Mind you if anyone else has seen the hill on the A9 as you come into inverness you'll know how it made that speed

75 mph (on the speedo.. inaccuarcy +-10mph at that speed easy!) down a big hill in a 1949 landrover when I was 17 and had just got my license.
Stripped it down to almost nothing (windscreen folded down, door tops off and roof off) driving down the middle of the road due to the huge level of play on the steering wheel and the passenger floor was levitating a foot off the floor due to not being bolted down so you could see the road going past...

120 (thats a guess - it was way off the clock) on a flat runway in an Austin Maxi. It was fueled with avgas... strangely the engine died after about 20 seconds.
Also got a 998cc Mini over a ton on the Brustin Brae. (Steep hill shaped like a ski jump) Took about 4 miles to get it stopped

Indicated 85mph in a 7 tonne Ford Transit with tail-lift, a 1.6 X-flow engine with a cracked manifold (down the Dartford Bridge with an alleged Force 8 tail-wind). It might have had more to come, but I backed off as smoke had started to come through the dashboard.
105 indicated in a 1985 1.1 GL Pug 205 - in 3rd gear (took over 3 miles, with a tail wind, to get there) Fantastic car - in 4 years, only things needed fixing was a new battery and heater fan - despite having 100k on the clock, occassional excursions beyond 8000rpm and carrying me + the entire pack of a very large rugby team I was part of.
Also 140 indicated in a 1.9 Pug 405.
Also passenger in a rubber band powered 1.4 Volvo 340 at 80mph. More impressive when you consider it had 14 passengers inside at the time.
Ahh, the days of youth and stupidity . . . .

Remember doing 98 in 3rd gear in a hired Astra Merit (1.3 IIRC) on the way home from the RAC Rally in about 1998 - wanted to reach 100mph but had to brake for traffic unfortunately !

A very memorable moment in my motoring life was 14 years ago when as an enthusiastic 18 year old i pushed back the boundries of performance vehicle testing in my newly acquired Austin Metro City (1 litre).
The venue was the Southbound M1, The indicated speed 115mph.
The steering wheel was shaking so violently i nearly lost control but managed to hang on long enough to see one of my wheel trims overtake me and go careering into a ditch....What a motor.

I got an indicated 105mph in 4th gear in my first car
A 957cc mk2 Fiesta popular. I was going downhill and got a bit excited when I got above 90 so I went for it. And then realised that my master cylinder was shot so I had great fun trying to slow down
