I know you're not supposed to Gary, but did you time any of your laps?

Dave are you sure all the Scoobs you passed weren't on cool down laps? I can't understand or believe how a rwd car would be able to keep up, let alone pass a scoob in the wet.......

Nothing spectacular Craig ......... 3mins 22 according to my vid camera. It was never fully dry though so I would expect to shave a second or two off, but not much.

Watched the vids and it appears that a lot of you lot should spend less time pollishing your pride and joy and do a little more driving
However a few were on cool down laps and gangsta did clearly pull away from you down the straights!!! thankf ****!!!

Yeh but my pads were close to shot and Crossroads only brought rear pads with them. So to ensure I could drive the car home I opted for steady braking and not uber large stamps just at the last minute.

I think the video is good because for me (and it only being my third track day) I can see I need to work a lot on my lines - which I wouldn't have necessarily known before.

Gary is an awesome driver to be fair . I followed him for a lap before that video starts and got past him at the first corner after the pit straights by using the power advantage.

It was my first proper blat with someone on a track and I enjoyed every minute - which is the most important thing tbh.

Gangsta,

I'm sure you would benefit from some coaching of some sort. By the looks of the lines you were taking on most of the bends you missed the apex on the majority of them. If you would like some tuition I would be pleased to give it as I am sure you would benefit from it. The Impreza in the right hands is a wonderful car to drive on track and even though it is a 4wd car it can be set up to act like a rwd car especially with the aid of the adjustable diff in the WR1.

Happy driving.

Kundra.

I agree with Arron Bird on this one. I have seen him on a few track days and even he could benefit from a few tips from a professional instructor. Maybe I should also ask him if he would like some tuition.

No mate just people who have a dig at me because a) I drive a WR1 and apparently they are sh!te and b) people who dig at me without knowing the full situation that ocurred on track, i.e. my brakes were shot and I have only done three track days.

Kundra hasn't been a w@nker and slated me - he has kindly offered to give me some tips to improve my track driving - which I will gladly accept from him as he hasn't started by slating me!

Gangsta ....... I hope your not pulling the old shot brakes gag ........at least its better than heat soak / cool down lap / heat soak

I think the first bit of advice for anyone taking their car on track would be to make sure they check things like brake pads, fluid levels etc BEFORE they leave home........ These items cannot be taken seriously enough. If you didnt do it, which i'm not convinced of then you are a lucky lad ........ Especially as you were still driving hard in the afternoon long after we met on track

Not a dig mate but it doesn't add up .....

Best thing for improvement is grab as many passenger laps as you can and listen to what advice experienced track drivers will give you. (Bit difficult in Gary's Pug as it didn't have a spare seat )

That is what I did and I think that since the last time I was at Bedford - must be 2 years ago now - I have learnt so much! I even troubled a couple of people which I wouldn't have done last time, in fact, as soon as anything came into my rearview, I would poo my pants, indicate and pull over to the right!

So my advice, should anyone care to listen to me, is to get as much advice as possible and get as much practice of track driving as possible (or affordable)....

Good luck and if you need any help

Didn't see you anywhere on Saturday mate ... are you one of those sit at home and m@sterbate in your driver's seat about being a rally driver types?? From the post's youve put up I would think so. You know if you keep w@nking like that you'll go blind - then you won't be able to show me how a 'real' driver does it!!

Gutmann, I know your not having a pop ... but if you talk to anyone that was there on the convoy up my brakes were not working as well as they should. Crossroads advised me at my last service that the rear pads would need doing and brought a set with them to change over after the day. However between the service and the track day I have done nearly 2000 miles, and the fronts were getting low also. Hence me taking it easy and braking steadily so as to preserve them as much as possible. If they had of brought fronts with them then happy days I would have destroyed the old ones and run the new ones in on the drive home. Xtreme scoobies will vouch for me as I asked them to inspect my pads before I went on track.

Nice vids Gutmann, can see what you mean about your red mist and lines! although some of your down changes sounded a little harsh (perhaps the vid sound?).

Having been spoiled by my STi3 during the winter it really makes me want to sort the 130K old suspenders out on my pug and give it a good thrashing.

Shame that I missed what seemed to be a fantastic day, that'll teach me to keep my eyes on the right forums!

p.s. Where you uploading the rest of the vids to?

i only take my work seriously and gangsta is so easy to wind up it is like taking sweets from a baby(which i often do with my daughter!),taking brakes he knew were not up to the job onto a track day, next he will have left his air con on or left the handbrake on!
