Won't be long before Scumberside Scamera Partnership have a mobile set up, because no doubt a high % of traffic will be busting the limit and they'll see it as perfect excuse to improve road safety....er I mean keep themselves in a job.
I have to say I am surprised not to have seen a Mobile Van on the A610 or seen a static being erected either.

If you get in touch with your local highway authority they should be able to explain why the limit has been imposed (probably the same crap that I got). You can also get a speed limit change protest pack from the ABD for £5. I appreciate that it all seems like effort, but it is time motorists started to shout out rather than just rolling over and taking it.

Aye - I'm always expecting a Mobile Van or Cop Car to be sitting in one of the layby's just waiting for someone to come past at 100+ mph.

What do you get in the pack? I'll do anything I can to help out (no sexual suggestions please ) because this speed restriction is utter nonsense.

I live close to the road the thread is reffering to. The reason for the restriction is someone jumped off the arced bridge to their death last year. Now, obviously this means the road has had a fatality, therefore the government think the best way to reduce the chance of this happening again is to reduce the limit to 40mph.

Obviously this is ridiculous because the suicide had nothing to do with the traffic or stretch of road.

Cheers

If you look on the previous page at the response I had from the highways officer, they are claiming far more deaths than that:
this short 3.5km section of the derestricted dual carriageway has been the scene, on average, of at least 1 death and 3 serious injuries annually for the past 7 years. Clearly this was unacceptable.

have to agree the speed limit is stupid, i did actually do it the other day and had every single car overtake me, including a huge ikea wagon .

Does anyone actully know if the fatality caused by swan dive off the bridge counts as a death against a road, cos its not the most uncommon for place for someone to jump and if it does count, i'd guess that all of the fatalities are in fact jumps

on the subject of accident points, how about the new island they've put in by new hotel on woodhouse way? every day almost we go out of home and see smashed up car or skid marks/bend signs/smashed fences.

plus when its wet its lethal, was rear end at 15mph, yes 15mph, was going so slow cos i knew what it was like, and out it stepped.

now that is dangerous.
