Lets Pay MORE Tax!!

Remove red tape, bureacracy.....
Elect an efficient government.....
Spending exponential amounts of money will never improve the efficiency of something that is fundamentally INEFFICIENT. It's far too simplistic to suggest that.
Third poll option please...

a loaded poll if ever i saw one. ridiculous.
like with ISA and everything else, you miss the point lewis.
the NHS is an important facet of our society; people do not mind more money being raised and spent on it AS LONG as the money is not simply hosed away for a less than commensurate return in improvement.
the current government does not understand that with investment there must come accountability and responsibility - the new labour answer seems to be just to chuck money at the problem so that they can simply trumpet "we've invested XX billion more than the tories would."
that's not good enough, not least when you realise that there are now more administrators than there are front line medical staff - which is symptomatic of very poor management at both a civil service and ministerial level.
while NHS funding is up, the management of that funding has never been more chaotic and poorly allocated. bang for buck efficiency? taxpayer value? forget it.
the sooner the NHS is de-politicised the better. but that of course, will sadly never happen.

What did the Tories do??
Let me guess now, they think so much of the NHS and the sick that they surely wiped it out?? NO?? well, decreased it to 5p then?? NO??
What DID they do???
They INCREASED it to £3:25!! And they made it illegal to reduce it! So poor Labour had to abide by the old Tory rules - BUT, they have held the increase down to the minimum allowed!
So, don't come that crap here!

A vote for the Labour party is a vote for more tax, whether overt income tax or not; as there's a general election looming this trolling poll is somewhat irrelevant isn't it Pete?

This country needs change, and extremely quickly. As I said previously, if I ran my business in the same way that Blair has run this country, I would be bankrupt, and I would definatly be liable for false advertising, as after all, he got into power by ' false advertising'.
If you cant see that, then I would simply imply that your nose is so far up Mr Blairs bottom, that it gets tickled by his tooth brush everytime he scrubs his ivories.

Rather than raising taxes, they should be reducing the number of people scrounging off the state IMO. The way the country is going, more and more people are just living on handouts from the state, whilst us hard working folks are having to pay for it. Makes my blood boil it does...

[Yawn] Another pointless pslewis political rant....
I think people would be happy enough to pay more if they knew that the tossers running this country spent it effectively instead of building multiple layers of non-value added bureaucracy.
Having already stumped up the best part of £55K in income tax to Mr Brown this year, I really don't feel like giving any more.
Cheers

LOL @ the worst worded poll on SN ever OMFG!
Sorry - there wasnt an option for me...
But in short and simple terms - NO TAX RISE FOR ME.... Better management of the service, less red tape would save plenty - as would forcing all sexy nurses to be able to offer their wears to patients for a fee - a percentage of which goes back into the NHS coffers

What a damn stupid thread, pay more tax and it'll help the NHS, what crap. My wife works in the NHS, she has done for the last 36 years, and they dont see the money, it all goes down the pan on 'Admin'. Did you know that admin staff out number the nurses and doctors? that the NHS is the countries largest user of 'company cars' get back to how it was mate so the largest chunk of the money goes on patient services not admin flash motors, expensive works of art for the office walls, thick carpets and flash offices ..............then they wouldnt kill so many every year with MRSA and have so many closed wards overworked staff, cancelled ops etc..... my wife rarely gets any beak during her 12 hour shift, not even for a cuppa, worries me sick how long she can keep this up for!

I didn't vote as the choice was rather limited.
Yes, the NHS is a brilliant thing, which is only marred by timewasters and fatcats.
The timewasters are those draining resources when clearly it wasn't necessary. Do you really need to go to the GP when ever you get a sniffle? Did you really need to call that ambulance because you broke your fingernail?
Quite a huge percentage of patients seeking treatment are not ill unyet they cause great fiscal loss to our NHS purse. People complain that their GP tells them to go away for 1 or 2 weeks and return if the symptoms persist. This is because most patients shouldn't have darkened the GP's door in the first place. When people understand that a GP can do nothing for the common cold the waiting room would be a lot less cramped. And that is really only the tip of the iceberg.
You see, the NHS is so laden and it's all OUR fault - not theirs.
Then, when something does go wrong, we think we have the right to sue the NHS because all we are really interested in is MONEY! Like £100,000.00 makes the death of a loved one ok doesn't it. Now you have all that money, you are better able to cope with the death. Crap! As long as there is someone to blame and eventually pay out, we're all right Jack.
Let's see everyone complain when we have to have obligatory medical insurance. Even those lucky enough to own a policy today are finding appointment making quite a task as now the private sector too is heaving with time wasters who should have gone to their Pharmacist but because they are paying they think it's ok.
You don't need PMI, you need PMA! Postitive Mental Attitude.
Don't get me wrong, I believe health matters are very important and great strides are being achieved in respect of curable disease rates.
Anyway, back to the NHS, it's just that - a national health service, and in as much means we should pay what ever it costs to keep it afloat. Still, with a huge number of people not paying anything but still reaping the rewards we should be greatful we have a health service at all

PSL, if you want to pay more (tax) why not set up a dd to your local PCT/ gp/ hospital insert nhs provider of choice. Then they will be grateful , you can be (doubly sp? )smug. Lead the way! Or carry on your trolling......

PS Lewis, if you really want to help the sick and dying I assume you give up some of your time to do voluntary work in a Hospital/hospice etc?
Also if the sick concern you that much why did'nt you go into a profession that deals with them?
I can say yes to both of the above, its not just about paying more tax.
You talk much about the NHS, have you ever worked in it? Do you really know anything about Labour policies ie NHS Modernisation Agency, Agenda for Change etc Do you know what Labour is doing to PCTs etc. Probably not.
A few anectdotes do not make one an expert in anything
Deep.(15 LONG years in the NHS)

No supprise. Whenever I mention the IMF and the huge borrowing he never replies. Never replies as to how the country will pay the IMF back. The IMF have said we are facing a Black Hole in our finances. Guess the IMF will be on the verge of telling us what to do again.
