Very nice mate, love the colour

here's one of mine

For those not in the know, the ones made for sale to teh Japanese market come with 2 pots on the front and non-vented discs with one pot rear brakes and 16" alloys yet 250bhp + 250lb/ft as standard

I have to assume this is because Suabru Japan know the Japanese customers are gonna put monster alloys and big brake conversions on them

The gearing is also shorter for faster 0-60 over UK/Euro model WRX. Also comes with rear wash wipe STi headlamps and electric folding wing mirrors

I've had mine 18 months now and would like to move up to an STi. However, it's gonna have to be a JDM as once you've had rear wash/wipe, there's no going back

Few more for those interested

Non-vented rear discs:

First mod I did - upgrade to UK Spec 4 pots and braided hoses:

All JDM's have little silver SUBARU stickers, not big chrome letters but the tints and the rear wash/wipe also give it away

Hi mate,

I can't remember if the discs are the same, I think possibley not. I bought a set of 4 Pots off a guy breaking a whole car on eBay (did a deal privately) and they were shipped to me including discs for £215 delivered.

My advice would be to find a set of 4 pots and recon them (check rubber seals are OK) and if they come with decent discs, use them.

What else have you done to yours? So far, I've fitted front and rear upper strutt braces (have a lower front strutt brace to fit) rear drop links and am in the process of choosing a rear anti roll bar. I've also just bought some STi 17*7.5 alloys and demoted my 17*7 WRX alloys to trackday use and fitted some Pagid Blue pads

250 brake is enough for me, I just want to make it handle better

Cheers, Jonathan

Ps it's my everyday car too, I'm currently doing about 15,000 miles/year in it

It's not difficult mate?!?!?!

buy a WRX from a UK dealer, it's a UK WRX, with the UK spec and a UK waranty.
Buy a WRX from an importer such as Litchfields and it's an imported, JDM WRX with whatever options come on it from Japan and probarbly a different ECU map (like the older ones)

on the classics it made a big difference as the JDM wrx's were about 280 bhp where as the UK turbo 2000 is 220ish

Went to visit the importer who brought mine into the country (nearly three years ago now - new at the time) as had an issue with delimiter, which was quickly sorted

They had a lovely black JDM WRX amoungst all the usual 4x4 Jeeps and vans, etc but it was quite scary to see it with 2 pots on

I got chatting with the SVA tester and he has a sliver one like mine

Why are there no other owners on this thread? there has to be more than just the 2 of us here on Snet

I got mine new just over a year ago now, a mate of mine also bought one at the same time (silver) we had a cracking deal, there dosent seem to be many jdm newage wrx`s about but quite a few sti`s.
Agree with earlier comments about getting it dropped, going to do this as well as 4 pots busy saving the hard earned at the mo cos i just spent a load on a TSL PP.

Hi chaps - I picked up my 03WRX last week. It has 17's and 4 pots on it already (would these have be standard - it's an 03?). I have been trying to find out what the 'proper' performance specs are - mine has been mapped for 98 ron - any ideas on what performance should be?

The blob eye JDM wrx came with 4 pots as standard, performance should be slightly better than a uk wrx as you will have 250 bhp and a jdm is about 30 kilos lighter as well, where did you get it from?

Got it from SVA near Dover - change of job meant my old Sti had to go - wanted something more comfy but still reasonably quick - import cheaper than UK with PPP.

If people wanted to be really pedantic they should say OJM WRX and not JDM.
Really you should only say JDM when reffering to the sales area inside Japan and not the Origin Japan Model spec of a car.

Have a look here
http://www.svs-ltd.co.uk/About_j.htm

'import / export activities have caused us to also import genuine parts for Japanese import models, and we have been operating a parts supply system for some 6 years importing genuine parts for origin Japan 'grey import' models, especially Subaru.'

These cars have been produced by Fuji Heavy Industries destined for retail in the Japanese Domestic Market. They are not purchased from the wholesaler by a franchise for distribution outside of Japan.

As such, they are and always will be (to me atleast ) JDM's

Back on topic, this is a picture thread after all, here's a few of my JDM and I having fun at Elvington Airfield (York) on Saturday

loads more of other marques and Scoobs here:

Wink

Pink = STi
Bue = WRX or normal UK Turbo 2000 (classic shape)
i = JDM
Stars = UK/Euro model

Then you get tarts that paint theirs sparkly pink, etc

If you think my suspension looks lowered...have a look at this one

Completely standard springs and strutts looking forward to fitting the Anti-lift kit and lower front strutt brace plus uprated rear ARB

if by that you mean it looks like a bear squatting in the woods

mind, it has done 70,000 miles, so the suspension will be getting a little tired

If ever you come across a crop sprayer you will know what i mean, plenty of clearence between wheels and body work, mines the same as yours with only 7k on the clock so they all must suffer the same, the lowering springs should help a little.

only 7k I know yours is the best colour ever but you are allowed to drive it, not just polish it every day

I had priced up a set adjustable dampers and Eibach springs but I like the ground clearance I have, especially coming out of the forest after 120 rally cars have been through (marshalling )

ARB's will be on before next track day

Agree with you on the ground clearance, it can get a little rough in the woods.
Its only just over a year old and as its my weekend baby the miles stay low.
