Thumbs up

For Handling and Performance, yes
For Driver involvement and Costs, No

If I wanted to be 'Competitive' around the track, Then would be an EVO a far superior car in some aspec's

Hence I own (3) Scoobs

No. My impression of the EVO was a car of exceptional ability, but very little in the way of character or soul, which is a personal, subjective thing and important to me. I also think Scoobies are better resolved for UK roads owing to their extra compliancy, although the EVO would be faster on a smooth track. Nothing original about those conclusions!

That said, we have to re-iterate the JDM vs domestic maket qualification etc... The first fully paid up member of the UK EVO family had - you guesse it- pretty much the same power output as the Sti!

As far as the JDM examples go, there is genuinely little to chose between them in terms of ability. Its a personal preference thing

I don't think you'd exactly be unhappy with either!

Well one could say that the bottom of the range Evo 260 is comparable to the top of the range Impreza STi (non-ppp obviously), so no I wouldn't swap.
My mates 260 was RR'd at 269bhp and is completely standard, what power does a bog standard STi make these days?

Like so many others have said time and time again, if you want the ultimate B-road car then you have to compromise on comfort, fuel economy, servicing costs, insurance and "nickability". That is why so many people steer towards the Impreza because it is a good compromise...
Just my 2p's worth.

I think, as you imply, the Evo and Scooby are being aimed at different people, even though on paper, you think they'd be gunning for the same market. The Evo is for those who want ultimate ability and to hell with other considerations: The Evo will generally be quicker than a Scooby on a trac and for some, that's enough! The Scooby is the nicer car to drive and more well rounded in its abilities.

I think ultimate B road ability is related to comfort to some degree. Whilst the Scoobies relative softness is -i'm sure- not so great on a track, I found the EVO 6 simply too stiff to take a typical (i.e. badly surfaced) B road at the kind of pace that I'd be comfortable with in my Uk Turbo.

It's horses for courses. At the moment, I think Subaru know the UK market a little better.

Regards,

Power and tight handling are not the only considerations for a fast real road car!

If you take an extreme example of an on track EVO-crusher - an F1 car would be completely useless on a B-road!

I have never driven an EVO of any description and have only driven 1 Impreza Turbo, but I did a lot of investigation into which car to buy before I got my Scoob and definately made the right choice

Now I think my Disco V8 is better - and the new Disco 3 V8 with 280 bhp or even better the Range Rover Sport - supercharged of course would be my ideal car

YES!

give me 20k and a black makinen and you could get yourself my 22B with 600bhp (if you want it) but most likely 500, and bills to the tune of about 50k!

Would consider moving on, but only to an evo 6!

Prefer a 7 or 8 or the equivilent Scoob, but not any of the older ones. IMHO very cheap and tacky looking up close, nice from a distance. Not saying all older Scoobs are cheap looking at all, but they don't need big bulging bumpers arches and mad bonnet vents to stand out.
