BP Ultimate is crap, even for 97 RON. Total is great.

Mostly esso around here so use their sul....but occasionally have to use Texaco's super but end up paying 90p per litre for that ( Well actually I dont.....My old man lets me use his Texaco cards ).....

a little side note
my local shell recently changed to be a Gulf and having talked to the staff there they told me that their SUL was infact Optimax re-branded because they just bought it off Shell. I don't use it very often because obviously I can't use my Optimax card there to get points but I've not noticed any difference in running on it.
As regards Ultimate I tend to avoid it where I can, I've only ever had 1 good tank of it every other time I've used it the car has felt sluggish.

Optimax all the way for me....never tried anything else so can't really compare! 
I have however heard from alot of people that if they can't get Shell Optimax, the next best thing is Esso SL.
