Ever been threatened with a knife, "anything goes wrong, you get sliced?"
Ever seen and treated a child with injuries inflicted by parents, who died later?
Ever been at work and been operational in your job 95% of the time?
I could go on and on.
Ask any junior nurse in A&E in the NHS (above example was just one friend) They will tell you stuff like that and typically on less than 20K, they dont do it for money, those that did left, best thing they did.
Money is not all about rewarding the awful things you see and the awful things you have to do.

With the mooted increase of 16%, this would rise to nearly £464,000.
Other than some directors' schemes, this generosity is unmatched in the private sector.
And STILL they cry and moan and blubber!! They need to be hauled into the real world!

Pete's one of the star posters on this forum nowadays (though I've been on Scoobynet a long time and don't think we saw eye to eye in the dim and distance past)! The stuff he writes is intelligent, eloquent and fun to read...unlike that of some of the dullards who rise to his contraversy but aren't up to the challenge.
So, keep up the good work Pete! You make this forum a more interesting place.
Oh, and agree with him on the firefighter issue. Market forces all the way.
Gary.

Ever seen a body shortly after a train ran over his legs, torso went in to wheels, mashed parts over next half mile, legs intact on track half mile back.

The Ill-Health issue is total crap - just an excuse to retire and continue their 'other' job!
The public have the measure of the Firemens unreal demands and baby crying tantrums!
The 1948 Firemens game is finally up!!

Most don't see eye to eye with me at first .... eventually they see the reasoning of my logic and accept it (they may still not agree, but allow me the right to post a view!)

I really have to laugh at PSL's whingeing over having his objectionable threads vaped.
The main cause is that he is incapable of producing a reasoned argument anyway. He just posts a set of NL type soundbites which signify nothing as one might expect, and then runs away when he can't cope with the replies. His sole ability is to quote a so called fact out of context and then hope it will produce a thread of record length. He is only interested in trying to wind people up, and the self called King of SN is showing that he has no clothes
Its even better when he gets caught out for hypocritical comments. That really makes him hide away for a couple of days!

But if the cap fits mate.......
What has come out of this thread is that most of you despise firemen for some reason? I can only assume from this that none of you have had the misfortune to need one.I hope if ever that day comes (god forbid) that you reflect on your former views.
PS again it would seem youve been trolling websites for info on the fire service. Where the **** did you get your figures from pal?
A fireman retiring today with 30 years service would, with full commutation receive £62k and an annual pension of £12k. A fireman would have to live untill he/she was over 95 to receive the figures you quote!!! Unless you honestly believe inflation will be in double figures for the next twenty years? And if he/she died the day after they retired their spouses would get only half.
I'd really like for this thread to end now, and to say one thing. In your first post you wanted to know why it was alright to call the labour party, but not to defnd it. Yet your quite prepared to slag off the fire service of which you quite obviously know jack **** about, but call me for trying to defend it!!! smacks of a little hypocrisy to me.
