Whoa. Don't be such a pratt.

I was voicing my opinion which is that a speed limit of 70mph on the motorway makes no sense; that's a totally different thing to claiming that such a law shouldn't be enforced.

In this thread most people have been saying that the police shouldn't have stopped the original poster, despite the fact that his plate was illegally spaced. I've not seen anyone questioning the sense of the law about illegal plates, just people saying it shouldn't be enforced...

The smallest "vital supply of water to a nuclear power station" in England is the sea, (probably technically the tidal severn estuary at Oldbury). I don't think the North Sea / Atlantic Ocean relies on an aqueduct above a railway line to keep water in them from one second to the next. Even with no water supply, nuclear power stations won't explode.

Sorry, have I dragged your off-topic pointlessness even further off topic?

I recently had a letter from a company ofering to sell me a private plate ...but to have it make sense would have meant illegal spacing.

So, i phoned the company and offered them 50quid for it, rather than the 500 they wanted....obviously they declined my offer, at which point i told them not to send letters to me, offering me a product i would have to use illegally for it to be worth anything .........not heard from them since.

ok fair enough, i see that no-one in this thread has yet to question the need for this to be a law, just that it shouldnt be enforced. maybe because something like this is unlikely to be made legal whereas upping the speed limit on a motorway is a possibility... ?!

Saw one of these on the M6 yesterday. From 100 metres away, it looked like MANDY. From 5 metres away you could see that it was in fact M41 VDY, but the number plate manufacturers had slanted the 1 and V together to form an N. Font was also italicised, just to complete the idiocy.

Exclamation

Why should we "shut the **** up"?

Because you know deep down it's a pikey thing to do but you don't want to hear it? C'mon, face facts, how many people look at a contorted and frigged-about number plate and think "Oooh, that looks goooood..."?

Er, no - schoolboy error. Pikey is making out to be something you're not. Arsed-about-with number plates are the epitomy of this, in my opinion.
