Cool

Afternoon guys!

Just to clear up a few things so our Veccys dont get slagged off too much

1st of all we know a standard V6 will struggle with a WRX and the WRX will be quicker especially from standing start the Scooby 4x4 launch is awsome..I have experienced it a few times in mates cars...

The argument is about tuned V6's keeping up with Bog standard WRX's (mid range)... Ziggy's V6 for example has an impressive 214BHP and about 200lbft and 166BHP at the wheels... Much more than a standard SRI / GSI

As people from this site have mentioned, they have owned V6's and note the laggy flywheel a few of the VVOC members have swapped it for a lightened flywheel which increased acceleration and lagginess ...

Just thought i'd clear a few things up so u dont think we all live in the clouds and think we can all kill P1's in our standard V6's

Cheers!

It's not rocket science to realise that once rolling the vectra could quite feasably be just as quick, if not quicker.

(thats not taking into account that the Impreza is of course, the fastest production car the world has ever seen) (if you listen to some Scoobynet members)
I don't know about the bug eyes - but most of the semi standard blob eyes are putting out way over 225bhp with just an exhaust backbox! Most seem to fit into the 235-265bhp category!

Vectra - no way - even at high speed .....

Not much in it between new age standard WRX and the top V6 Vectra,in fact not much in it at all in a straight line and on fast sweeping A roads,i'd rather have an auto V6 Vectra 3.2 than the WRX( manual Vectra's have a gearbox sloppier than a *****'s knicker elastic).

I drive a 95 WRX import at home and the Vectra from time to time at work.

I dont know what all the fuss is about, you buy a particular car for your own reasons i bought a scoob because they are different from the norm, they sound fantastic and i have only had mine for 2 weeks but have had more waves from fellow scooby drivers than hot dinners how many vectra drivers can say the same.

$hitty FWD resulted in it losing control at low speed on the motorway
PMSL - yes FWD always causes cars to lose control at low speed.

Unhappy Believe it!

On my way down A57 from M1 J31 past Red Lion last night, K**B Head in V6 Vectra takes me( STI02) as im doing 30 through traffic lights(over taking three lanes of traffic)...... I boot it as he nearly took my back wing with him and couldn't catch him, he must of only have been doing 50 when he past me. To add insult to injury a CRX Type R was behind him by 50 yards and kept up with me till I reached the thirties again 1/4mile later.

Didn't make me feel two proud of my scooby.

Hmmm, so you are seriously trying to tell me that a V6 Vectra is faster than and Sti are you?

Hmmm, your 2nd post! Interesting!

If you're going to bait, at least don't be so obvious

Default Sport?

Only changes on my car is it has a different backbox. No I'm not trying to say a Vectra is quicker than a STi just stating what happenend he had 20mph+ jump on me and it moved!! Oh and regarding two posts, if I had 50 posts would my STi go faster or the Vectra go slower?

If you had 50 posts I'd be less inclined to think you were on a wind up!

Common tactic of people (usually people who've never even driven a Scooby) who want to irritate Scooby owners is to create a new username and then post garbage: "My Scooby is slow etc"...Heard it all before.

I'm sorry, but if your Sti can't keep pace with a Vectra, you need it checked! NOW!

Regards,

NS04

He could have been caught off boost in a high gear.

Of course, but with that proviso you wouldn't criticise the performance of the car, as you're not driving it correctly to extract its performance. To extract the optimum performance from any car -especially a turbo- requires that you be in a gear that puts the car in its power band for the road speed.

Look what happened to the Evo FQ400 on Top gear. Are we to say that its performance is dissapointing?

last september i had some money to buy a car, as i used to own a vectra v6 gsi, thats what i was gonna get again.

BUT THEN.........

my mate let me drive his wrx, needless to say i now own an S reg wrx.

vectra gsi is a nice big cruising car, but i dont do much motorway driving so the rally breed impreza was the one.

when i had my vectra i lost alot of races off the lights to imprezas.
but a heavily modded vectra could (i imagine) beat a bulk standard uk car.

anyway i have defo no regrets

Appreciate where you are coming from, the reason for the limited posts, I've only had the car a month. On a longer more 'bendy' road I know the STi would chew him up and spit him out. Was trying to point out that it suprised the hell out of me. I will have to toddle along to a local meet with other scoobies to get other owners opinion to see if there is 'owt' wrong with mine.

I used to have an Impreza years ago but have been driving a 3.2 V6 company Vectra until today.

Today I picked up an Impreza MY98 from the other side of the M25. My friend drove the Vectra back in convoy. The V6 is good in third but the Impreza has better acceleration (handsdown). Handling is also totally different (ie, Impreza much better)

Standard UK WRX is feckin slow as you all know. It's quite possible that a decent Vectra can take one
0-60 in a bit under 6
0-100 in 16-17

That ain't quick
