Let's get this straight. You break the law, the police pull you over, you're wasting their time. You don't break the law, they don't pull you over, everyone's happy. It's pretty simple stuff. What you're asking for is a 'blind eye'.

I should add that I wasted police time on two occasions with a mis-spaced numberplate. I appologie to any grannys that may have been hurt due to this.

The problem is, there are far too many people in this country more than willing to commit 'serious' crimes, as anyone can see from recent police criticismregarding their pathetic murder clear up rate. So you can do two things, try to tackle head on the those who are willing to commit serious crimes, or continue 'as is' wasting time (in the general publics opinion) tackling petty motoring offences until we completely lose control of the serious crime, which is happening now.

What are you lot on. Its the police's role to "uphold the law all the time". Not "uphold the law all the time, but sometimes we may have to ignore traffic offences and minor thefts as the burglary rate has gone up a bit"

Your talking about two traffic bobbies who, i'm sure, if they saw a burglary in progress near by would stop it.

The roles of individual officers within a police force is very complex and we are all very busy as the jobs we take on are complex.

I'm not talking about individual officers Felix, I'm talking about the Police (make that governement) 'stratagy' (for want of a better word) for fighting crime as a whole.

Felix, I don't think anyone is criticising the police, it's the powers that be that allocate the budget and decide the focus where the problems lie.

I have a couple of police friends and they say exactly the same.

i think its just most peoples problem is with priorities.... ie imagine being a teacher in a school... do you stop the two kids fighting each other with chisels in the DT lab or the kid walking across the grass ??

most people believe that the police are playing grass monitors..

Yes I did, but I didn't come on a public bulletin board blaming someone else for my crimes and acusing the police of time wasting. I took it like a man and helped a few old grannys to cross the road as penance.

OMG, do you honestly believe that all they know is Traffic?? What do you think they did in the Police before they joined the traffic unit Everyone does at least 2 years normal uniform duties before they can join different specialist departments. Since many are area car drivers with many more years experience of getting to the jobs first and more often, Traffic cops are usually the most knowledgable and experienced you come across.

And they are ideally based to disrupt all criminal activity and gather intelligence on account that most criminals drive. When Billy Burglar breaks in and nicks your brand new 42"plasma screen and DVD player, or breaks into your works van to steal your chain saw and angle grinder, do you think he just carries it home???

There's always kids fighting somewhere at school, or more importantly being bullied, another area which our ineffectual leaders seem unable to prevent. Forget the moron on the grass.

Get them back on the beat then, pounding the streets, make them a pro-active force once more instead of being a mainly centralised van loving, reactionary force. Stop them eating all the pies

Not sure what your point is here as that is what I was saying.

Again, not sure what your point is but I'm damn sure having a flamer kit or a squiffy numberplate doesn't predispose someone to nicking tv's or angle-grinders.

What a waste of bandwidth your post was. I don't expect to get pulled every night just in case I have a tv in the boot ffs. That's not solving crime, that's one step away from the Gestapo.

Perhaps if they were walking the beat more often johnnie burglar would be spotted lurking about with a screwdrive up his sleeve, and may even be less inclined to commit the act in the first place, rather than the police 'reacting' to a phone call and then taking days to turn up, as happened in my parents case. Burglars know they can get away with it, hence the problem we have now. So what to you suggest then, eh?

I think all these dodgy plates, flamers, black tints, etc are a godsend.

Whilst the Police are bogged down with petty motoring offences, trying to impress their superiors with how many HORT's they have dished out.

Real criminals have more chance of escape.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Dont like Chavs much, but they are a good smoke screen...

But surely the real crims advertise the fact that they have the contents of your living room in the boot by giving plod a good old flame on the way by

there should be less of an effort/focus on easy target motorists + more bobbys on the street in the rough estates, late at night, etc. Think of this, if one of your relatives had been burgled and attacked and that night there were not enough police on the beat, as a visible deterrant, all that would happen is they'd turn up late, take a report and **** off to the donut van/chasing motorists again. FFS can't anyone see that its resources deployed in the wrong area

They were being pro-active.
They saw an offence being comitted and acted, that`s their job.

The point here is that a muppet thinks it`s cool to have a flame kit or whatever knowing it`s illegal and then has the cheek to complain when he gets a pull by plod by saying they should be better employed elsewhere.

When the parents got burgled they said they would turn up asap. In police speak this mean two days later, no finger prints looked for or taken, no neighbours spoken too. Just some yaddayadda, not much chance of us catching them etc etc.

Lets face it, all the (admitedly nice) coppers were really needed for was the insurance company and crime ref. That's how much faith we had for the crims getting collared.

Evenin all <while bending knees>

theres hardly any point reporting a theft or anything to the police, except for the purpose of getting a crime ref. no. and maybe to maybe theyre stats look bad.

other than that, youll never ever hear a thing back. crap

Yes, that's true, but I'd rather they were a little more pro-active on the beat. We know they are pro-active for catching (generally) law abiding motorists and any other easy target as they whizz about in their nice shiny mercs. I want to see them sprinting about on foot, chasing the the scum who make it unsafe for people to step outside the door.
