pure filthy chav, and to make matters worse you wasted the time of the officers and you prevented them from doing other jobs.
if you didnt have your dodgy chav flamer and number plate and everyone else didnt speed then these officers could be deployed to what you consider a more useful task.
maybe the problem with these sort of chav items (VTA's/Flamers etc) is that you are more concerned looking over your shoulder/rear view to see the flames or getting up a head of pressure to let it all whoosh out thereby taking your attention away from, lets be honest, probably the most dangerous thing we do, drive a ton of various metals at ludicrous speeds with potentially fatal consequences.
is your keyboard broken by the way?
it appears to be missing the letter "g"

I would have thought that a Court would take a dim view of a police officer saying that he stopped a vehicle 'without reason'.
Just interested, not trying to start an arguement

I've been to court a few times having stopped someone using 163 and then finding something that led them getting arrested and they were convicted.
163 is simply a tool to use to make people stop.

Yeah.....great idea.
Lets put the whole force out on foot in one estste. The burglar will bound to target the estate on that night. Or will he sod off some place else.
Or will he nick a car instead - because there is no traffic cover tonight.
Most burglars are caught by forensics and intelligence - not by walking into one.
Oh and there are officers given specific tasks to lock up criminals for DNA hits - or should they be put on the beat as well

It'll come under construction and use, probably.

Mouse,
Don't bite mate, can't you smell a little pork around here mate??
I think this thread is as funny as **** TBH. The porkers are biting and trying to justify their existance in a motoring car forum. Bad move really, as they're very unlikely to get support from the majority of people on here.
Like the comment about them being gatherers of information from informents
I saw the Police camera van driving around Yate today, with four people on board. Surely this is a waste of Police resources??? Perhaps not, maybe there were scared of all the Chav boyracers around this area, and were holding hands
I have NO respect for the local Police around here, after a number of recent events that I'm not going into. Oh and it fine for them to get adrenalined up and drive like absolute ****, in TD estate cars that aren't designed to be driving like that. Might be off to nick someone for no tax on their car (as they might have forgotten to renew it) or back to the station for a coffee, with the blues on driving on the wrong side of the road at great speed
Police coppers, well don't even get me started.
BTW, did Mouse not say his flamer kit was OFF??? His car has been over-fueling lately due to a check engine light.
Phill
PS I first thought flamer kits were ****e, until I drove a few scoobies with them on. They're great for getting boy racers off your tails

Incidentally, once you've stopped them, do you need reasonable grounds to search the vehicle/person?

Once stopped you do indeed have to have reasonable grounds to search either the driver, any passengers and the vehicle. These are recorded and a copy should be offered to the person.
You don't have to have grounds to look through the window though

Only if S44 of PACE is in place.
It only applies to certain areas of the country and changes on a daily rate.

I bet most the people bleating about being persecuted (look up the term btw) motorists will bleat that they'd be persecuted pedestrians when all the traffic police are on the beat.
I agree that there's a degree of getting easy money with speed cameras etc. However this isn't the same with being pulled over for dodgy plates, flamer kits, general bad driving etc. If the motivation was really money in the coffers then they'd just go for the speeders, far easier and more productive. It's these types of pulls that catch the ******* that nicked YOUR car else they'd never find them. Anyway, I thought this was the type of traffic policing you all wanted rather than catching speeders??? don't wanna get pulled over? Simple, ditch the iffy plates and flamer kits etc. Keep them and you take the risk.
Hey, I'm sure there's a few jobsworth policemen out there and the odd dodgy one, however these are FAR outnumbered by ******* on the road.

I find the likelyhood of recieving a producer or fine depends a lot on your attitude. I have been pulled several times, occaisonally having been bending a law, and have never had a producer or fine. But I tend to be polite, respectful and know when I'm in the wrong. It sounds like the 20 minutes would have been 2 minutes with a different attitude.....
