Classic scoob wrx with 260 ps should waste it on paper.

Obviously a lot of feelings about this subject and i agree from a personal point of veiw the scooby is the car i'd prefer(looks, sound, admirers) but it dont come cheap i.e insurance, fuel security etc.the 50mph to 70mph figures are all well and good and not desputed but the majority of my confrontations are from the lights and it certainly makes you concentrate on getting it just right. i totally agree that the scooby forums and meets etc are brilliant and as such it is worth every penny. I am in no way knocking the scooby or its drivers but maybe a little less of this 'its king of the road business' is no longer justified otherwise 'egg on your face' comes to mind.. powerman

A 330D would waste a WRX, annoy a standard STi and in the reality of today's traffic would not be far behind an Evo\Sti PPP, doing 40+ MPG with all the toys

I like BM's ALOT.. had a 330i... but i had a run against a chipped 330d out of the private roundabout and down the private dual carrigewa... and although it was very quick for a dirty D the Sti just jrove past it in first and second... at 120 it was over 1/2 a mile behind... even with has super chips sticker on the rear window and ugle bloke tints... 0-100 in 18.5 against 0-100 in 13 is rather ALOT! actualy against a Seat Cupra TDI the other night the Seat did better that was VERY VERY fast for a diesel, but still was well within the Sti's performance range... don't get me wronfg either i love the diesel power at low rpm and the almost instant shove low down but... I've also got a 2.0HDi Citreon... but ther aint no substitute for the brutal ram in the back and noise of the scoob at full chat out of any corner! thats the differance... i can give the scoob full loud pedal existing a corner and it just grips!
Love it!

I'm not sure that many scooby owners do think their car is the best thing out there anyway; I haven't seen any posts here anyway.
What does appear to crop up much to regularly is someone claiming another make will take the scooby at some speed or other, and then posts from scooby owners (mostly) setting the record straight.
This isn't directed at the original poster, but if you have model X car, then well done. I hope you enjoy it. Just don't bother claiming it'll be faster than x, y or z scooby here; there's no point. Unless of course you really hate your car, and you need to get some sort of 'purchase justification' thing by posting what is often cr@p and winding people up.
Does anyone here go to another car site (non-scooby) and wind them up? I hope not...
Sorry for the rant, but there's been too many stupid posts all about the same thing.

Sorry to rain on your BMW parade but some ar$e in one ( 330d)tried to take on my lowly STi bug. Gave him a rolling start at some lights and watched him go backwards. Not really into the launch thing as I can't afford new clutches every 3k miles, but I didn't have to try too hard.
I owned a 330i - which would rip the throat out of any 330d ( unmolested of course), and the STi is much quicker.
Still - a nice car if you like diesels

I'd be interested to know of anybody who has used the performance AND received the economy. Of course motorway work will fair better than B road jaunts but interested nonetheless.

P.S my brother has a 330d BMW and he had a scooby STi and he thinks the BMW is brilliant but I wouldnt get one. powerman
